My DC17 hose has no suction and is constricting

Answers :

You have a blockage in the wand - take the wand off of the back of the machine, separate the wand from the hose by pushing the red button where the hose is attached to the wand. Hold the wand up in the air and look trough it. If you don't see light coming through the other end you have a blockage in the wand. Take a long object like a stick or a metal hanger and remove the blockage. I am confident that this is where the blockage is but...if you can see through the wand the blockage is in the u-bend, but the hose won't constrict then...remove the u-bend which is attached to the vac at the bottom next to the long gray hose - it is attached to the machine with a plastic screw - turn the plastic screw 45 degrees anti-clockwise and clear the blockage from the u-bend.
I discovered my Dyson 17 would loose vaccum and yet I could not hear anything while the floor brush was running. After letting the unit sit for 15-20 minutes it would have suction again. I think there is a thermal overload within the vacuum motor that is causing to to quit. Has anyone else experience this and what is the cure?

My dyson DC17 will not turn on unless the handle is pulled back.(into the vacuuming position) The attachment hose will not work at all (0 suction thru it). I've checked the hose and made sure there is no obstruction. Any ideas?

Not sure if I can help, but I'll try. The DC17 has two motors: the vacuum motor and a separate motor for the brush bar. My DC17 is only a few months old, but I've already had to clean the filter. No suction Hello - any help with this would be much appreciated! I just changed the bag and filters. The machine runs, seems normal, but there is no suction. There is no blockage of the hose, as indicated by the fact that that little viewer window above where the hose connects to the unit is not showing the red portion that it shows when there is something blocking the hose (god, this is hard to describe!). If I disconnect the hose and put my hand over the hole, I feel some suction. But
