Dyson pulling up carpet fuzz by the container--when does it stop
Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. Firstly the cyclone action of a dyson artificially accentuates the amount of fluff you are removing basically the cyclone action seems to fluff up the material in the bin. In a bagged vacuum the dirt is pulled into the bag and essentially is compacted. The bagged one will still do it but you dont notice. It will certainly do it less once you remove the build up in the carpet. Most of the time you have bought a new one because your old machine wasn't working properly so it is logical to assume that for a time the new one will have extra to get rid of. The best bet is to vacuum very systematically in lines covering the whole floor even if you cant see dirt there because it is the dirt at the base of the pile that damages carpet. Anyway this is a very long winded way of saying it will reduce but by the nature of the canister it wont actually stop. Hope this helps.

My dyson animal is hard to push on carpet - the beater bar is still operational. When I turn off the beater bar and run the vacuum on hardwood the beater bar stops moving, but it still ''rolls'' on the hardwood - it doesn't pull up like it used to. It also seems to not be picking up as well as it used to, although no blockages are present and the filter is clean.

I have an animal dyson. The front nose dives into the carpet when moving the dyson in the forward motion, fine when pulling back. A huge amount of effort is required to move it forward. Took it to a technician and he said he could find nothing wrong. He had only short nap carpet for test. Works fine on short nap, if the carpet nap has any lenght to it like shag, the dyson severly nose dives. It's like the nose is sucked into the carpet. Folks, My wife and I own a three-year-old Hoover U6434-900 self-propelled "Wind Tunnel" upright vacuum cleaner. The problem is that, even on the highest setting (front-end as high as possible), it gets bogged-down in even shallow pile carpet to the point that the brush stops. I've cleaned the machine thoroughly, pulling hair, thread, dental floss and such from the brush (and everywhere else), including unscrewing the brush end caps and pulling out the cat hair mats which formed in there.

I have a Dyson 17, the Absolute Brand special for pet hair. I think I have a blockage in the hose. Symptoms are: spewing out fuzz balls and small particles. I have checked all the blockage sites recommended by Dyson and all are clear except a small flexible transparent hose, 6 or 7 inches long, curled up underneath the cleaner head/brush bar unit. Any ideas? I've tried to pull out the stuff stuck in there, but I'm afraid to perforate the hose and I don't know any way to disconnect it.
Try dropping something like marbles into the hose and shake it up and down, may loosen it up enough to draw through.hope this helps you out. ... Vacuums

Hoover WindTunnel S3765. The motor spins and the belt turns when I turn the brushes on, and the brushes will spin. The problem is that when I do this on carpet, the brushes stop spinning. As soon as I pull the "head" off the carpet, the brushes spin again. It's almost as if the vacuum suction is too great. I took the head apart and watched the motor turn the metal spindle that the belt rests on, and the belt turns as well.

With cleaning carpets with the Stowaway when the head gets a blockage it makes a high pitched whining sound and requires unblocking - then works fine. Now when vacuuming the head always makes the same sound when the head is against the carpet. you can also see that the rollers are slow or stopped. We have pulled the Stowaway virtually completely apart and checked for blockages as well as washed the filter and no difference. Any ideas?
