Having problems with your Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum ?

Power switch will not engage.

\015 If you hold down thepower switch will not engage. If you hold down the switch the vacuum operates normally, but the on-switch will not lock into place.\015

Answers :

Possibly the micro switch is faulty or the switch isn't in its proper position in the machine. It could be a cable problem too. An electrical continuity test (with the power off) should prove where the fault is. hope this helps.

Hoover Upright Vacuum model U5470-900 - The On/Off switch on the handle does not properly engage the power switch deeper in the handle assembly. It appears to ride over the lower switch and doesn't engage it to operate it. If I play with it, I can get it to maybe turn on the vacuum, but, then the upper handle switch won't turn it off. Our current workaround is to use the power cord for on/off operation.

There is no power...seems like a motor problem. The bag is clean...the mouth is clean the plug us in...NOTHING! I took mouth off and manipulated/pushed in that power press area that engages the motor on the front (not the switch on the back) and NOTHING! Not sure if motor died and/or what to do now. Help. I have had this baby for 15 years.

The front safety switch must be pushed in by either the hose or head (or manually), before the on/off switch will operate. The most common reason for no power is a bad cord. Second most common is worn carbons in the motor, and third is a bad switch. ... Kirby G4 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Electrolux Epic 6500 SR ...no power to power nozzle. I think it is the switch in the handle because if I use my friend's hose/handle (same model), my power nozzle works fine when I turn on the switch. If you think it is the switch, can I get a part for it?

That's about the best one to narrow down a problem, however, there could also be a break in your hose wiring. Switches, hoses, and hose handle assemblies are all available at your local Aerus Electrolux store. Simply take your entire machine in so ... Vacuums

Power head attachment works great when plugged into the hose part of the vacuum. The problem is when I attach it to the tube for normal use there is no power. I have a Hoover Elite Rewind model #uh71009. We moved recently and it was jostled around and the red power switch popped out. I put it back in but it's stuck; it stays either left or right, it doesnt move back and forth. It appears there may be another piece missing from the power switch...all I have is the red switch and a tiny cylindrical metal tube with a spring on one end. This piece fits into the hole on the red switch. Inside the vacuum itself where this goes, there is quite a large cavity

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead... the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope

I have a Eureka Upright vacuum (4800 Series). When I try to start it by turning the switch on, it wont. For few days, I was able to get around this problem by repeatedly turning the switch on and off until it turned on but that does not work any more. Could it be something related to the switch it self or the power cable. My wife mentioned that one of my kids might have pulled the power cable too hard (at the back of the vacuum). My electrolux ambassador power wand quit working. I replaced the switch that shuts it off when the roller stops, but it wasn't the problem. The on/off switch is fine, the motor is fine.
