Dyson DC17 Found the clog-how do I unclog it?

\015 First thing I noticed was extreme suction in the attachments, it would almost flatten the hose it was sucking so hard. It made it hard to pull the hose out all the way and had to turn it off to put the attachment back onto the vacume.\015\012Next it just got really loud, high pitched....next thing I knew it would no longer work if I put the vacume upright and there was no suction when I used the regular push vacume-it just spit everything back out.\015\012Now, I've read several things on here and it sounded like I had a clog-we have 3 animals. I pulled the bottom off and sure nuff the little hose that connects the bottom to the main part of the machine is filled with hair. My question now, how do I clean that little hose out? I don't see anymore of the quick release screws to get to it. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am hoping this gets my vacume working right again.\011\011\011\015

Hi. We've got a Dyson DC17 "Animal". It's clogged, and we are unable to separate the purple cyclone cap from the main cyclone body to get to the problem. We've heard of 4 torx screws that take some interesting tactics to access. I've been through this thing with a flashlight, and torx tools for a protracted period, and even after removing the torx screws was unable to ultimately separate the two pieces (main body from purple cap assembly). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx -

I'm trying to figure out which dyson vacuum is better, the DC14 or DC17. from what i read, the DC17 is the newer model of the DC14, the DC17 added an extra motor for the brush, but from the dyson site, the DC17 has less suction power. it went from 250AW (dc14) to 220AW (dc17). is that a significant difference that i should be worried about?
