I have an older Oreck XL vacuum that sounds like it is running twice as fast as it should. I disassembled the entire vacuum, including disconnecting the motor wires, to clean out the hair, string, and other things. When I put everything back and connected all the wires, everything appears to work, including the light. The only problem is, it sounds extremely loud like the motor is running too fast. The model number is: XL3610HH Ser. No. 3610HHXA039740-6 I do not have as electrical diagram to see

I have a new Hoover BH50015 hand vac. The noise is terrible. It sounds like the bearing are bad. When you take off the cup and the filter and listen to the motor as it slows down after turning it off it definitely sounds like bad motor bearings. Hoover tells me the loud noise is normal. Can you help?

Dead motor? My 8 year old Miele S251i has worked fine, until I was recently vacuuming and moved the plug from one outlet to another. When I restarted the vacuum, it made rrrrr.....rrrrrr....rrrrr noises and smelled like something was burning. I turned it off, and it's shown no signs of life since. Sound like a motor problem? I've taken the cover off and looked at the cord and seen the motor, nothing looks obviously wrong, but I'm also not mechanical.

I have a NUTONE central vac, when I turn on the power, It sounds like its grinding glass and doesnt suction. Could it be that broken glass got caught in the motor and all I need to do is clean it, or is this the sound of a failed motor?
More likely it's something in the fan. However, I suggest taking it to a vacuum repair shop to make sure. Something could have got into the fan system and is making a racket, but the motor itself won't crunch up glass. ... Electrolux Central Vacuum
Hi. We have a Riccar N2100 vacuum cleaner, which has served us well for many, many years. I'd like to attempt a repair on this unit, and looking for advice and/or a parts diagram to proceed. The unit makes a groaning sound when shut off. The sound tapers off in pitch as the motor and beater bar come to a stop. The sound only happens when the vacuum cleaner is turned off in the normal upright position. The sound does not happen when the lower unit and main housing are both laying flat. I took
Recently my central vac system started making a louder than usual and laboured sound when in uise, enough so that I took note and inspected the canister and motor while running. The motor was trowing off blue sparks and looked like it could 'POP' at any moment. I will not risk using it until I know what the problem is and how to repair it. My assumption is the motor needs to be replaced. The system came with the resale house I bought 3 yrs ago but I do not know the age of the system itself.
Motor still runs--sounds like jet engine. do I need a new motor? or is there some sort of muffler that has malfunctioned? vacuum belongs to disabled mom---so trying to do work ourselves--cant afford much. dont see anything obviously wrong--but know nothing about electric motors.
This little vac I think is actually made by Samsung. If it is ROARING and vibrating, either the bearings or suction fan is in bad shape. Remove the lid as if to inspect the belt and see if there is a visible intake opening with a plastic fan rotatin ... Bissell 3590 CleanView Bagless Upright Vacuum
I have had my Bissell Healthy Home for just over a year. I use it once or twice a week on five area rugs and two small bedrooms with wall to wall carpet. Just recently, the motor started to sound extremely loud and it smells like it's burning. The vacuum still picks up everything and all the brushes are turning. Advice? I really like this vacuum and would really like to fix it rather than replace it!

Loud noise I ran over a string and then shut it off quickly. It now makes a horrible grinding sound. Did I ruin the motor? Sounds like something came undone. I checked the belt and that is fine. Ideas?
I think you damaged the belt. I ran over a sock once and it made a grinding noise but still worked for several months after the incident. Finally, the belt broke off. I had it replaced and now it doesn't make that sound. ... Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

I'm not really a technician, but I used to sell Filter Queens and was taught how to maintain them, and have tackled "fixing" some problems. I am a 71 year old great-grandmother of 8, but have good health and am very active. The Filter Queen I have is r, usedeally old, and I have kept it up. Just this week, however, I turned it on and it had a noise which sounds like something might be loose in the motor. I have always been very careful to have a clean hepa filter to protect the motor, so I know

I have a Rainbow E2 series, 23, for about 3 years. It has now a different and very aloud sound coming fron around the motor and also I feel it is not suctioning with the same power. If I close the hose like closing totally the suction entrance, the sound comes normally. I will appreciate if some one can tell me what to do, becouse there is not a Dealer in my Contry any more. Thank You. Pierre Chabaneix - Lima-Peru [email protected]
Hi there, Pierre!\015\012Sorry, but I think this is bad news. From your description, I suspect that a motor bearing has failed. The only way to fix it is to replace the motor, and without a dealer in your country, that could be a big problem.\015\012 ... Rainbow E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

Was hoovering when my DC04 made a funny high pitched noise then a whirring noise, this was accompanied by a smell of burning and a puff of smoke! Almost sounds like it might be a clutch slipping, is this possible or is it more likely to be a motor burn out?
OK... the DC04 doesn't have a clutch. My best guess is that the belt that drives the brush roll has broken. The smell of burning and smoke puff were probably caused by the motor suddenly speeding up when freed of its burden of driving the brush roll. ... Vacuums
I have a Bissell 9400 E pro heat turbo. It's only been used 4 times, today it sounded like something blew. All my house electrics went off...( blew the main trip) I did read some place that the motor can short out and blow the PCB. Hubby and I just took it apart..( what a pain that was) We can't see a thing wrong with the board...( I expected to see something black, or damaged).... because when it blew today there was a weird smell... sort of like garlic. I have a Filter Queen Majestic 360 and am having problems with the powerhead. There is a loud rattling noise in the powerhead, especially when I vacuum thicker carpet. I have replaced the motor, roller brush, and belt, but the rattling remains. It sounds like it is coming from the roller brush area, and when I turn the powerhead over, it rolls free and sounds fine. Any thoughts?

Burning when the vacuum was started today it didn't sound like it should and then started to smell like the motor was burning. this is less than 1 year old!!!!

WST 1600A I purchased this vaccum about four months ago from Heartland America. Up to this point it's worked fine. After cleaning it this time when I went to start vaccuming again it runa for about 10 seconds and cuts off. Miele S5000 (revolution 5000) vacuum cleaner - How do I open the casing? When the power button on the handle is pressed the green power-level lights on the handle light, but the motor sounds like it gives a little 'jump' but nothing more. The orange power light on the body also dims. I assume the motor or fan is jammed, but I can't open the body to find out. I've taken out to screws inside near either end of the handle, but to no apparent effect. I'm assuming the body is held together by plastic
I sucked up a long piece of string, and it rolled around the bottom and smelled like burning. The piece of string is gone, but the motor doesn't sound like its engaging. Is this going to be expensive? Can I do it myself?
