You really need to take the sole plate back off and make sure the belt is running exactly where it's supposed to go and not looped over a piece of plastic or anything. More important is that you make sure the ends of the brush are seated properly an ... Dyson DC14 All floors Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
Had my dyson root cyclone for about 4 years now, and in the last year it's had a few problems. About 4 months ago it started to make this awful grinding sound when the roller bar was engaged and I took it to a repair shop and they said it was the roller bar itself. The shop replaced the part and it worked fine for a couple of months and then it started to make the grinding noise again. I tried the clutch reset suggestion (turn it on its side and turn the carpet/bare floor switch slowly back and

Have Dyson DC 14. When tilt to vacuum, the handle and coiled hose comes away from the unit. The problem started when the little purple ridged curved part on front of vacuum cleaner right below handle came loose and a spring fell out from somewhere--don't know where. I pushed on the purple ridge part and it snapped back on. Now, can't get it loose again, don't know where the spring goes, and handle still comes loose from vacuum.
I'm not positive whether or not this is the wand handle because there are several versions of the DC14. However the device the locks and unlocks the wand in place is pretty similar between all the versions. The first picture is the wand re ... Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
Loud noise I ran over a string and then shut it off quickly. It now makes a horrible grinding sound. Did I ruin the motor? Sounds like something came undone. I checked the belt and that is fine. Ideas?

DYSON DC14 While vacuuming the living room, the rotating brush started making an awful loud grinding sound. We opened the intake port, cleaned the brush but to no avail sound still persists once you lower the vacuum handle in an attempt to clean. Was wondering if there was anything that can be done?
Take the bottom plate off and check the belt. Also, rotate the brush by hand - it should turn with only a moderate resistance from the belt, or very little if you take the belt off. If it is hard to turn, or if the belt is stripped-out right where it ... Vacuums
When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.
Yes, the belt could have been stretched and is now vibrating and hitting other parts and creating a noise if much of the bag got caught under the belt. If you have another belt for this vacuum, please put it on and see if the noise stops. If it does ... Hoover U5780-900 Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless UprightVacuum

We have inherited a Filter Queen Majestic Triple Crown Model 99C vaccum and have no owners manual stating the year it was purchased and parts available. Our power hose electic wire connection (about 6 inches long) which plugs into the main unit is split in the hose attachment end. The motor sound went instantly quieter and I wondered if this was why when I found this frayed electical wire. It has not been used since this problem was found. Hi. We have a Riccar N2100 vacuum cleaner, which has served us well for many, many years. I'd like to attempt a repair on this unit, and looking for advice and/or a parts diagram to proceed. The unit makes a groaning sound when shut off. The sound tapers off in pitch as the motor and beater bar come to a stop. The sound only happens when the vacuum cleaner is turned off in the normal upright position. The sound does not happen when the lower unit and main housing are both laying flat. I took
