The beater bar makes a horrible clunking noise when I turn it on
\015 Whenever I turn on my Dyson the beater bar makes this horrible clunking noise. I've cleaned it, opened it up, there is nothing in there bouncing around to make that noise. It actually sounds like the bar is loose and vibrating when I turn it on. Is there something I can do to fix this? Has anyone else had this problem? Nothing on it looks broken but the beater bar does not seem secure or something.\015
I just came from the repair shop. There is a recurring problem with a bearing coming out. Repair guy turned it on & said that loud noise is a symptom of that exact problem. This is a warranty item, as is the belt & on/off switch. Dyson comes with a 5 year warranty, so call their 800 number to get the name & address of an authorized repair shop.
This happened to me. In my case, the steel tension roller came off and fell out of the DC17. It was only two months old and the store (Lowes) replaced the vacuum under their 90 day return policy.

Terrible noise My dyson was working great then started making this horrible noise. I cleaned the bar but noise is still there. I discovered the beater bar went around three passes then froze and started horrible noise again. my husband got the bar turning but after 2 swipes vacuuming it did it again. That noise is the clutch. A very expensive part and very hard to replace. When a problem with the clutch happens it's generally not worth the time and money to replace.I suggest getting a different type of vacuum, maybe a Miele or Sebo. W ... Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

Had my dyson root cyclone for about 4 years now, and in the last year it's had a few problems. About 4 months ago it started to make this awful grinding sound when the roller bar was engaged and I took it to a repair shop and they said it was the roller bar itself. The shop replaced the part and it worked fine for a couple of months and then it started to make the grinding noise again. I tried the clutch reset suggestion (turn it on its side and turn the carpet/bare floor switch slowly back and

I have the Eureka 4870 "The Boss" Smart Vac. The beater bar began to turn constantly and can't be shut by moving the Brush Roll Contol to Bare Floor position or the machine to the upright postion. It has also eaten two new belts. A local tech says he has seen this problem whereby the free-wheel assembly that makes contact with the belt to engage the beater bar is misalgned and cannot disengage. It is usually the chassis which would mean replacement of enough parts that would not be worthwhile

I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I have an Electrolux Commercial Upright vacuum Model U129C. It has a device which turns off the motor driving the beater bar if something gets stuck in it. There is a simple reset button to restart the beater after clearing the obstruction. This doesn't happen on high pile carpet but the motor doesn't quite sound normal. There is no obstruction - the beater bar can spin freely

Hi. We have a Riccar N2100 vacuum cleaner, which has served us well for many, many years. I'd like to attempt a repair on this unit, and looking for advice and/or a parts diagram to proceed. The unit makes a groaning sound when shut off. The sound tapers off in pitch as the motor and beater bar come to a stop. The sound only happens when the vacuum cleaner is turned off in the normal upright position. The sound does not happen when the lower unit and main housing are both laying flat. I took
