Hi there,

Your DC25 is equipped with a sensor which shuts off the brushbar if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head is free of obstructions and removed any threads or hair from around the brushbar, you should be able to reset the machine. For assistance in doing this, please follow the steps shown in the video below.

Please note, it will not be necessary to remove the soleplate as suggested by Spizlarkie. The automatic shut-off feature protects the belt from breaking, and disassembling the cleaner head to this extent will void the machine's 5-year guarantee.

I hope this helps- if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call our customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US). You can also find information on using and maintaining your machine by visiting www.dyson.com and clicking 'Support'.

Best wishes,

Take off the bottom plate with a phillips head screwdriver and check to make sure the little black belt that drives the brush is still on track. If it is make sure that you don't have your setting to "bare floor" as to that setting will stop the spinning of the brush.

My Dyson DC25 animal is having issues. I believe everything is working correctly except I have realized that the mechanism which switches the hose/valve between the wand and the vacuum head isn't working properly. The two gear pieces that move the hose placement aren't close enough together, so they don't work together. It looks like there is a washer that I could potentially remove on the clear gear piece which would allow it to sit closer to the assembly. Would that work? Currently I am

My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush rotating. It does not happen hen I shut the roller brush off. The belt is fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong as there are no clogs, debris, or foreign objects stuck in the brush or in the belt. The noise seems to be the only issue. The vacuum picks up fine. It just doesn't sound right a

I havethe first generation purple Dyson Animal model. The brush rotates fine, but doesn't make sufficient contact with the floor/carpet, therefore does not pick up most items on carpets (suction still works however).
