Having problems with your Dyson DC33 Bagged Upright Vacuum ?

When i set the floor setting to carpet, it makes a nasty rattling noise. doesn't do it on bare floor setting

Answers :

\015\012There is one major difference between the hard floor setting and the carpet setting - the brushbar doesn't spin on the hard floor setting. Hopefully this is a simple problem - the rattling noise suggests there may be something trapped behind the brush rollers. You can inspect this by removing the sole plate from the vacuum. Doing this may allow any trapped objects to fall out without need for any further inspection:
\015\012To remove the sole plate:
\015\0121. Lie the dyson on it's side so you can access the underside or sit on a chair, turn the vacuum upside down and hold it between your knees.
\015\0122. Using a coin or a large flat-bladed screwdriver undo the two yellow fasteners on either side of the "sole plate" which covers the brush rollers.
\015\0123. Pivot the back edge of the sole plate upwards and remove it
\015\012Any loose debris can now be easily removed, While the sole plate is removed, it is a good opportunity to inspect the brushes and remove anything else that may be stuck to it.
\015\012Replacing the sole plate is the exact reverse of the removal process. Before replacing the sole plate, ensure that the brush bar is correctly and fully inserted.
\015\012There are other possible reason for the rattling noise, but your description leads me to believe that this should cure the fault. Inspect the brushbar first and then post back if you need further assistance.

The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can't find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned the brush but it does not seem to want to turn. Does this machine need to be oiled so the roller will turn? Is there a way to check inside the motor? Do you think that because the brush won't turn that is making the noise? Do you know of any repair shops in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area?

My Kirby Heritage II vacuum is not picking up dirt up out of the carpet like usual, and I have to keep setting it lower to pick anything up. I finally get it to such a low setting that it starts sucking the carpet up and makes a whirring noise, and starts smelling. Every time this happens, we find the belt has been burned. We are wondering if the brush roll inside with the brushes that pick up dirt are worn out and too short?
