Having problems with your Dyson Vacuums ?

How do I replace the motor brushes in my DC11? I cannot dismantle beyond removing the pipe attachment. I've removed the 6 fixing screws that are visible, but the machine is still firmly "together" as if there are still screws that I've not located. Does it snap apart? Are there hidden screws? Paul

You can buy brushes but if the armature is overheating changing the brushes wont help
Hi,
\015\012
\015\012I've never worked on a DC11 but have worked on several types of Dyson uprights. The following may or may not be relevant to the DC11 but may give you a few clues.
\015\012
\015\012On the uprights I've worked on, if you remove the dust canister, underneath it is a clip-on cover with what's known as a post motor filter under it. This varies between models from a simple fibre pad, to a plastic encased paper filter very similar to the one that goes in the top of the dust canister. Having removed the clip-on cover / pad / filter, there should be a few more screws that when released will allow the motor housing to be taken apart.
\015\012
\015\012The site www.dysonmedic.com is excellent, but doesn't yet cover the DC11.
\015\012
\015\012Incidentally, I've just repaired my fathers DC07 which appeared at first to be a brushes problem. When I got it apart, it became obvious that the motor armature had a worsening fault whereby it was overheating so badly the over-current trip on the motor kept cutting out. The overheating was so bad that the bottom of the post motor filter was actually burnt !
\015\012Searching on eBay, I found a complete replacement motor for £18 inc p&p, but no listing for brushes. You may therefore find a) it isnt the brushes and b) you cant buy the brushes separately anyway.
\015\012
\015\012Good luck !

I also have a Hoover upright and I need to replace the electrical cord. I have dimantled the back, where the tools are stored, and the hose. I still cannot find the screws or whatever, to get to the area behind the cord, so I can replace it. I think I will have to take off the bottom too. Has anyone out there tried to do this? It seems crazy. This machine works great so I hope I can also put it back together. Thanks for the help.

Is there another modified unit or am I stuck with what Ive got and should I replace the O ring or the shower.

Our plug got pulled out (by driving away while the canister was still plugged-in after a vacuuming the car). How can we open up the unit to reattach the wires? We accessed two sets of screws (2pairs) toward the bag-end (not the motor-end) of the canister, but we can't locate any access for the two other apparent screws inside the body.

The removable filter at the front is cleaned regularly, and is not clogged. However, the machine appears to be suffering from being clogged by dust, as it has started to make a high pitched noise, and I fear it may burn out. I can see some dust inside the front panel but cannot see how to remove the front to clean it out. (NB. I have located two screws - one on either side - but cannot see how to proceed further.) Please help! Thank you.
