Having problems with your Dyson Vacuums ?

When in the up right position the dyson looses suction then begins to take in air just above th filter at the vented area

Answers :

It sounds like you need to follow the hose and make sure it's connected to the vacuum properly, and make sure all the fitting connecting the hose to the vacuum are sealed good. It's best to wipe the rubber gaskets between fittings with a damp cloth to ensure a good seal.

Dyson DC 14 hose has no suction, with or without brush attachments. Hot air shoots out from the base of the canister when I try to use the hose. I cleaned the top filter, but can't figure out how to remove the hepa filter to clean it without destroying the case. It looks like it might take three hands to insert pennies and "flip" the case open as is suggested on a youtube video for a different model. Would this even help, assuming I could get the thing open?

Why does my dyson slim dc18 keep shutting down, even though i keep it clean. Filters area is clean and all others have been properly blown out with air from a air compressor. It will work for about 5-10 minutes and then shuts down. Smells like ****, check the belt and a bit later it restarts again. It's seems to be almost over heating.

Maybe your motor is going. Here's a link to a site that talks about motor failure and replacement in a DC07 (not DC18). I don't know exactly what the odor smells like but maybe you can see if you have any of the other symptoms. Good luck! ... I have a Kenmore 116.36932 (upright-bagless vacuum) that the motor protector by-pass valve has opened. I've clean out the area between the agitator brush where the flexible extension hose starts. There was some blockage there. I checked the rest of the system (extenstion hose, back filter area, pipe area to canister and area to side filter. I took the 2 filters out and the by-pass valve is still open. Where else could there be a blockage that I can take apart to clean and put back together

I have a Dyson Animal DC 28. It vacuums fine on floor mode, but, when locked in the upright position it releases pressure though the little valve behind filter a. I have only had it for 2 weeks so I'm hoping the filters don't need to be cleaned this often! I would like to finish vacuuming without waiting 24hrs for the filters to dry.

Unfortunately with any bagless vacuum the filters do need to be cleaned or replaced very frequently for the vacuum to perform. But the good news is it sounds like you have a clog in the hose. remove the attachment hose as you would be using it and un ... Vacuums

My 4 yr old Nilfisk vacuum cleaner has been working fine up until now. Dyson animal loses suction when I let the handle down from the upright position to use, I've cleaned the foam filter, and the plastic filter holder and dried thoroughly, removed and cleared the right side U-bend, and the center, rear U-bend access, also made sure nothing was in the way of the beater bar. Any thoughts? thanks. lorri

Is the noise a loud screaming or a grinding/vibration? The screaming is an air flow problem and you'll want to check your hoses are clear and all the seals are tight. My Dyson Animal is not picking up very well in the drive position. With the hose the pick up is still very good. I have had it for 2 yrs now with very little problems. My Filter Queen just started making noise from the motor area, it was very hot. Upon removing the top thing that covers the area where the air blows out, there were sparks and it smelled pretty bad. My guess is the motor is shot. Is this difficult to change?

I just bought a Dirt Devil 12 Amp upright vacuum which seems to work fine but it is blowing out air in the front just under the filter housing. I see there is a vent there but should there be any air coming out during normal use? Thanks Brandon Smith

I have a dyson dc21. All the sudden the hose is hardly suctioning up anything. If I take the canaster off, the top air hole suctions extrememly well, but when I place that canister back on, the suction is not going thru the hose and picking anything up. I have squeezed the hose, I feel no air leaking and do not feel any blockages...what could be wrong. It worked fine the other day and today, it won't pick up a piece of lint!

Hi, I have a Sebo X4 which is almost 3 years old. I haven't had any problems with it until the last couple of days when I notice a slight screeching noise when in upright position, coming from the roller mechanism area. If I slightly push the sebo forwards it gets worse, if I tip it back it stops. If I take the roller out and switch on, there is no noise. I have always been careful not to tip the machine forwards when using the hose, but I recently lent it to a friend whose hoover had broken do

Currently my dyson does not work when in the upright position. When I pull the handle back, it will run, but the suction is not very good at all. I tried washing the filter, but that didn't work. Sometimes it works for awhile, but then the problem occurs after the machine has been used for awhile. What do you think the problem is?

My dyson dc08 has a loss of suction. A flap valve operates within a few seconds of startup which appears to divert air. I have replaced both the hepa and sponge filters but the problem persists. My Hoover Windtunnel, 12-amp, UGG16-900 (or U6616-900 - hard to make out the "G"s from the "6"s) suddenly lost suction this morning. The dirt collection thing is completely clean (I always clean it out after using), the side filter is dirty but not destructively so, and I can see nor feel any obstructions in the hoses. Should I take it in (a real hassle in NYC) or get a new dyson? LOL.

Dyson dc07 How do you take the tank apart to clean the bagless filter?

Suction Problem I took my unit to my work and used it, when I returned home it wouldn't suck up anything. I took the recovery take out and it has inward suction. Shouldn't that be outward, so it goes into the tank? It also blows out of the bottom by the brushes. I check the filter in the bottom and that is fine. Is it possible that it is somehow reversed the direction of the air flow (rotor running backwards)? I am perplexed. What am I missing?

There is a stand pipe seal where the bucket sits on, and if it isn't there or out of place could cause a suction problem like you said yours is doing. In the picture it is #10. The motor seal may have gone bad and is leaking # 15.\015\012 ... Hoover F7220900 SteamVac V2 Upright Vacuum
