Having problems with your Easy Flo EF1400 Central System Vacuum ?

Easy-Flo 1525 will not turn off

\015 It was working fine but this five year old machine would on occasion start screeching in the garage and I'd go down and turn off the switch at the motor and let it rest for a couple of minutes and then turn the switch back on. It would be ok. It has been doing this "Screeching" similar to a loud whistle since it was new.\015\012\015\012Today I went down to turn it off at the motor to stop the screeching and then my wife continued but now it can't be turned off at the vacuum handle...the wand or broom whatever it is called. Now it must be turned off at the motor/tank in the garage. Help please.\015\012\015\012Thanks,\015\012\015\012Fil\015

There is a relay back on the master unit. When the hose is plugged into the inlet the metal on the coupling completes the electrical circuit to the relay. In your case the coupling has a split and the circuit continues to the switch in the handle. As long as there isn't any conductive surface left across any of the contacts in any of the inlets, the relay is hung up. I never heard of that happening until today when I responded to the exact same problem on a different machine. The relay needs to be replaced.
\015\012The "screeching" on the other hand should have nothing to do with the relay. That sounds like a motor bearing without proper lubication and/or going bad.

I am buying a central vac system, can you tell me the better of the easy flo or nutone brand. I want the one with the least problems. It appears to me that the easy flo has fewer problems, thank you

Between the two brands... stay away from the nutone. If you can get it, the Beam, Eureka, or even the Electrolux and Kenmore(sears) would still be better. The warranty would be better on the Beam and Eureka (7 or 10 and one model is even 15 years) ... Easy Flo EF1525 Central System Vacuum

Not sure if I can help, but I'll try. The DC17 has two motors: the vacuum motor and a separate motor for the brush bar.
