Having problems with your Electrolux Central Vacuum ?

The low speed for bare floors won't work at all. The regular speed for vacuuming carpets turns on but spits items back out after a little bit.

Answers :

There is only one speed on a central vacuum. The power nozzle motor has nothing to do whether or not you have suction. Sounds like you don't have any suction. Unplug your hose from the wall. Start at the unit. Short out the two low voltage wires attached to the side of the unit with a screwdriver. If the motor starts, you may have a clog (either in the pipe or the hose). If the motor doesn't start, it may need to be replaced, but check the circuit with a lamp and make sure you have power at the outlet. No power - check the circuit breaker/fuse. The electronic board in the vacuum could be bad, but a bad board symptom is generally the vacuum keeps running and you have to unplug it to shut it off. If the motor starts up, pull the pipe out of the side of the unit and see if you have good suction. If not check the filter (dirty - clean) and look up where the top of the filter goes and see if the screen protecting the motor is clogged (clean). No suction at the unit (with the motor running) could be someone threw out the separation cone/gasket assembly. This happens about once a year to one of my clients. Dirt was piled so high, they just took it and dumped the dirt and the cone in the trash and never saw the cone because the dirt from below covered it when it hit the garbage can. The cone assembly should be sitting in the top of the large can at the bottom of the unit. If it's missing you'll need a replacement because there is a 1/2" gasket that makes the seal between the unit and the bottom can. It's like you have 4" x 4" hole in the can. If everything is good at the unit plug the pipe back into the unit. 1st check all you valves and make sure all the doors are closed and have their gasket on the back. 2nd with a pair of pliers open up the valve door farthest from the unit and touch the pliers to the small brass pins in the valve. If you have good suction your hose is probably clogged. If you don't you have a clog in the pipe. Start working your way from the closest valve to the unit to the farthest, so you can pinpoint the clog. To check your hose use a quarter to see where the clog is. A light duty (20' available at hardware store) plumbing snake can get out most clothing type clogs (socks, underwear, etc.). If none of these work contact a central vacuum installer to check it out. Hope this helps.
An advice is more like it. What I do in a situation like that is to see if the air flows freely into the machine to see it here is an ubstruction or that the bag is full.. If that is OK II put the brush "down" and high speed on and sweepthe floor.

In my (almost new) Dyson DC31 Animal the rolling brush tends to stop like the bearing was kind of difficult to turn. I opened the side carter and removed the little belt. Without the belt the engine runs regularly. I cleaned the little knots of hairs trapped in the bearing but still the brush runs for a while then stops, tries for a bit then stops again. I even tryed putting a bit of synthetic lubricant with apparently no result. Could it be a defective bearing? Thanks for your help.

When I was using my Bissell ProHeat 7901, I smelled something hot (almost burnt) and turned off the vaccum. When I turned it back on, everything seemed to be working, but the vaccum part was not making the same sound. The bristles are still turning, but it isn't picking up as much and is leaving quite a bit of lint on the carpet. Could the belts be worn? How do I tell? Thanks!

My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns. The portable part of the machine works properly. It's the brush bar. It has been cleared of hair, etc

I have a Napoleon Pellet stove insert Model NPI40. When the fire burn rate is extremely low it seems to operate normally. However, when I turn the heat up even a little I eventually get a high pitched noise that seems to be coming from the convection blower. Changing the speed of the blower has no effect on the noise level. I cleaned the blower but did not remove it. There was very little dust on it. Cleaning had no effect on the volum or pitch of the noise.

I was just using my Bosch 1450W bagged vacuum and all of a sudden, the motor just shut down. No warning, no problems. The light still turns on, but the motor is unresponsive. There is a clean bag and filter, and nothing caught in the front roller. The motor sounded fine - no shaking, or weird frequency variations. There were no weird smells, just a little bit of heat, but nothing beyond normal. I've had this thing for several years, and never had a bit of trouble with it. Any suggestions

Hoover Windtunnel U5750-900 Agitator brush is weak. It turns fine if I tilt the vacuum back, but it slows to almost 1/4 speed when it touches carpet, even on the highest carpet setting. I've replaced the agitator belt twice. The brush used to turn powerfully even on the lowest (Hard Floor) setting. Ideas? I should probably lube the agitator brush ball bearings, and re-check the belt, but, other than that, I'm stumped.

When I shampood no water/foam filled up in the front tray???I am sure I had attached everything correctly. The only thing I can think of is when I attach the brush and tray to the front of the machine, do I turn the handle back to the right way up, or do I leave it upside down, this is the one that picks up the belt.
