Having problems with your Electrolux Central Vacuum ?

I have an electrolux central vacuum in my house. My central vac hose has something stuck in it, I think, maybe a sock. I tried to put a long dryer wand down it but the hose is just too long. Does this need a repair man or new hose?? Any idea of a way to blow it out? Thanks.

Answers :

The best way to clear an obstruction is to blow it out by attaching the wall end to the exhaust of a shop vacuum, or using an air compressor.
\015\012You can try holding the wand end of the hose directly to the CV in port and turning the machine on. This provides essentially the same action as the previous method.
\015\012If neither of these work, try a combination of the two. Or using a shop vac, hold the wall end to the exhaust of the vacuum and the wand end to the in port of the shop vac. Turn shop vac on and the obstruction should come out.
\015\012Borrow a good strong shop vacuum if you need to.
\015\012If these methods fail, take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have the service tech try to clear it. Care must always be taken when trying to clear an obstuction with a long object, especially if it's pointed. I've seen many hoses that have shorted out and even caught fire due to the wiring accidentally being "nicked".

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

The repair shop told me my Oxygen3 needs to have a sumo(?) board replaced...again. I am not willing to pay for another repair and am wondering whether an new hose and adjustable extension tube would solve the recurring problem. Is the sumo board located in those parts or is it a malfunction that transfers to somewhere in the canister?

The Sumo Board, is housed inside the canister section, part # and discription below\015\012E-1180136-56 SUMO BOARD\015\012So replacing the hose and or wand will not fix the problem. I have a Hoover Deluxe Spin Scrub carpet cleaner that has lost suction. Recently my central vac system started making a louder than usual and laboured sound when in uise, enough so that I took note and inspected the canister and motor while running. The motor was trowing off blue sparks and looked like it could 'POP' at any moment. I will not risk using it until I know what the problem is and how to repair it. My assumption is the motor needs to be replaced. The system came with the resale house I bought 3 yrs ago but I do not know the age of the system itself.

I have an older model Electrolux central vac. When I put the hose into the wall outlet, the cannister comes on but there is no suction ? What is needed to correct this?

Three things are the most likely.\015\0121. Since it's an older model, the hose is likely well worn and probably has leaks at each end where it attaches to the handle and connector at the other end. If this is the case, a new hose is needed. ... Electrolux Central Vacuum

Dust....dust....dust Hello, I recently bought a house with an older Electrolux Central Vac system. I'm unfamiliar with them, so I'm not sure how to deal with this: I cleaned up some mortar dust with it, and noticed not too long after that when I went into the garage, there was a fog of dust. The hose from the unit is venting into the garage. Is this normal? I have since used it for everyday household cleaning and each time I go back to the garage to a cloud of dust.
