Having problems with your Electrolux EL5010A Bagged Upright Vacuum ?

Wiring Two wires (black and red) connected to the slider on/off switch have overheated and melted away the 90degree connectors. Will replacing just the connectors solve the problem or is it more complicated, such as a resistor, capacitor, etc.?

Answers :

This is easy and hard. If only two wires connect to the switch, cleaning up the connectors and replacing damaged items should fix it. Don't do anything unless the unit is unplugged. Try this first: connect the two wires together and tape them up. Plug in the unit. If it starts, make your repairs. If not, unplug immediately. The switch fried for a reason. Most vacuums do not use electronic components...just a standard brush style motor. If the motor is bad, it may not be worth replacing it. Let me know what the test result is and we'll further.

A 'burn' hole has appeared in the Microwave Outlet Cover causing arcing (or similar sparking and blue flashing!). Would replacing this cover with a new one solve the problem or does it suggest something that would quickly reoccur? Would it be an economical repair or should we ditch the machine for a replacement? Thanks in advance etc it is appreciated.

My wife's Viking 6690 smoked this last weekend. I opened up the end where the power switches are and the board had a 0.01 ufd capacitor the blew up. That would be easy enough to repair. However when the Cap blew, it also fried a small quarter watt resistor that sits just under the upper white pin connector on the board. The resistor is burnt beyond recognition and I am trying to find its value. Is there a schematic available for that board or a closeup picture of the board so that I could

The electronics in my Sunbeam TA200A Toaster is playing up. The Toaster is sometime popping the toast up after the right amount of time, but sometimes it pops up a minute later than it should (burning the toast) I have open up the control panel buttons and inspected the array of transistors and resistors that is used for the timing mechanism and a visual inspection doesn't indicate a problem. I am keen to replace the 2 transistors on the control unit (the resistors are unlikely to fail) but I ne

When i use the vaccum, it smells like burning rubber. I know this is probably a belt issue, but will a replacement belt solve the problem? If so what belt and where can i find it?

No power. I was getting intermittent power with my miele s558 midsize canister, but it was predicated with me fiddling with the retractable cord to get it to come on and then not move the canister while I was vacuuming. Now I can get no power. I have taken it apart and can see no issues with connectors, cord, casings, etc. It all looks fine. It is about 5 years old and I have had no problems with it.

The only reason why it would be shredding the belt is if the pulleys were not lined up correctly. Check the allignement of the belt to make sure there is nothing kepping the pulleys from being in line. The other thing that it could be is if the rolle ... Vacuums
