I have a Z345 Electrolux cylinder vacuum cleaner, from the 1970s probably, but not used much. I have lost the guide. I forgot to change the bag before it was full. Smoke started to come out - smelling of burnt paper, not rubber. So switched off. It did not blow the fuse, and may be OK. I wish to inspect it. How do I open it up? Alos I have an air filter and a motor filter for it. I have often changed the air filter on the top. How do I get at the motor filter, if there is one? Than

Miele Cat & Dog vacuum gets VERY hot and is VERY loud. Hose has no restrictions and I have changed the dust compartment (motor) filter and the exhaust filter. It still gets hot when I run it with the top open and all filters removed, so I'm guessing the problem is with the motor. Should I be going into the motor compartment? If so, what am I looking for?

Hi\015\012\015\012The fact that it gets very hot could be due to a number of issues.,but the fact that it started making a very loud noise at the same time suggests that there might be more problems maybe brushes etc.\015\012\ ... Miele S514 Solaris Bagged Canister Vacuum

I have an Electrolux LITE upright carpet cleaner - about 15 years old. Suddenly last night when using it, from the normal motor (whooshing) sound, the motor suddenly went very slow and with a slight grinding sound. The brushes are now just turning round very slowly and areobviously not picking up anything. Has the motor gone or is this repairable, or should I just get a new cleaner? I have tried to open the machine from the bottom to see if anything is obviously wrong, but it looks complicated a

My electrolux ambassador power wand quit working. I replaced the switch that shuts it off when the roller stops, but it wasn't the problem. The on/off switch is fine, the motor is fine. We have traced the problem to the wires inside the canister by opening the inside cover to the bag container. We see the power cords going into the canister but we're not able to get to anything. We can't find any screws to undo that would open it up in order to follow the wires deep into the canister. We've bypa

Have Electrolux 1590 whole house vac, and can't see how to get brushes out. Leads so short, and don't want to break them trying to free brushes. Do they slide out of plastic housing? My eyes not real good, but it looks like the leads are part of a brass sleeve that slides into the plastic housing. It also looks like the plastic housing may be a snap lock type, but I don't see how to open it.

This is not an electrolux problem, but I am hoping one of the experts can answer the question. I have a Sears air compressor that suddenly stopped working. After looking at how the motor case is put together, it appeared that it would essentially have to be destroyed to get it apart and into the motor. I received a new compressor for my birthday so I decided to tear into the old one to do some diagnosis. After getting into the case where I could see the motor/pump, I have discovered the prob

What do you think is wrong? How do I remove the cord retractor to get to the two screws that hold the back of the canopy cover?

Your problem is probably is you don't have a proper seal in your chasis. A vacuum has to be sealed tight or the air will leak out and the seal broken. Check around the whole body after the bag is in and check for any airflow noise. I could help more ... Vacuums

I have a VAX V12 vacuum cleaner which suddenly stopped. The smell indicated Carbon Brush Problems. I contacted a service agent who told me that it was not possible to change the Carbon Brushes brushes on this model and they would need to change the Motor Unit.. To me this sounds very unlikely. Two questions please. Is it possible to change the Carbon Brushes and how do I get the cabinet apart which looks very difficult. I am well qualified electrically to do this job. Regards James Beech

Oreck model BB870-AS - I was vaccuming when the vac shut off. The motor just spooled down and nothing more since. I have opened the case. Have power at the switch, and to the motor, but can't get a voltage reading to the common lead at the motor. Is there a fusible link, or something similar in that lead that might have burned out? Thanks!
