Having problems with your Electrolux Epic 6500 Vacuum ?

Took apart my electrolux 6500 sr. How do I get my fan shroud off to clean the blades? Thank you.

Answers :

Oops. Don't. First blow it out with another canister vacuum or air hose. That's usually sufficient for removing dirt and dust. For dust/dirt in the motor, use a motor cleaning spray that can be picked up at most auto parts stores. One that evaporates quickly and doesn't leave a sticky residue. One's called Electric Motor Contact Cleaner by Gunk (http://www.gunk.com/CAT_NM1.asp). There are others.
\015\012Hobby shops may also have one available called Dynamite Magnum Force 2 Motor Spray.
\015\012It shouldn't be that dirty unless someone has been using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. Or if water or other liquid has been vacuumed, resulting in rust, etc.
\015\012
\015\012Keep in mind that reassembling the vacuum is more difficult than taking it apart. If not done so correctly, various problems may result. While you have it apart, it would probably be a good idea to use pipe cleaners to clean out the tubes connectiong the "control valve assembly" to other parts of the vacuum. Also, unscrew the knob at the top of the "cva" to check for wear and breaks. Clean dust thoroughly from all interior parts.

I have a window fan with two fans in it & I cannot get the cover or back off so I can clean it. I* have taken all the screws out that I can get to , but there are two clamps that I can't get off, I'm not sure why the clamps are there but they are on the side with the accordian extention. Please tell me how to get it apart - after 2 years it is really filthy!! Thank you, Janet

Remove all the screws, pry clips off that hold on the extensions, than fan will pull apart. The clips must be pried off. They will not break. Then remove screws holding in the fans and remove them as well. Fairly simple process. ... Vacuums

The bottom doesn't come apart. you have to remove the top cover to get to any components. But if you have a burning smell, then it is probably ther motor and would have to be replaced. Motors cost anywhere from $70 to $90. ... Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 SpinScrub Upright Vacuum

Took my Hoover Steam Vac apart to clean it and now it won't **** up the water but was working fine before I got the bright idea to clean it. Took four screws out but did not touch the motor. It puts out water and the brushes rotate but no suction? Thank you for your help, Cathy

My dyson vacuum cleaner doesn't seem to have the same suction power it used to. I have cleaned out the canister and have taken apart the vacuum head (for cleaning carpets) and it doesn't seem to be blocked but it seems to lose suction by the time it reaches the head. The vacuum has started making a much louder noise. like something is coming apart or is stuck/clogged. Noticed the fan type blade has several cracks, some bigger than others. could this be the problem?

Yes, this is very likely. The fan is made of plastic, because a metal fan would be so heavy that it would make the motor burn out unnecessarily fast. Sucking up things like loose change, pebbles, screws, etc. can crack the fan, and unfortunately th ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum

My Kirby 2HD has started making an odd roaring noise but still works fine. I have taken the front assembly off and cleaned and adjusted the roller and checked the belt. The noise seems to come from the motor housing. I have tried to wiggle the main shaft at the front (bearings?) and it seems tight. Can't seem to get the other housings apart. Any ideas? Thanks, John

It is quite possible, it just needs lubed. The motor comes in direct contact with dirt so, you have to make sure the front bearing has a drop of oil on it from time to time. If it starts to scream at you within one month, after oiling, the bearing ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum
