Having problems with your Electrolux Guardian Bagged Canister Vacuum ?
I just replaced the drive belt on a Guardian vacuum and am having difficulty putting the cover on. Is there a trick?
There is a collar on the power nozzel elbow where the elbow goes to the nozzel. You need to pry it off with a screw driver. Don't worry about it breaking. It just snaps off and on. This will make it easier to get the top aligned. Make sure that the front of the cover is touching the rubber bumper and lay the cover down to the back side of the nozzel. You will have to lean the elbow up when you are trying to get the cover down in place. You'll see what I mean when doing this. When you replace the screws, you'll have one that is shorter than the rest. The short screw goes in the hole on the front side of the nozzel on the part that the motor is not on. Hope this helps.

My Hoover Windtunnel Mach 6.9 brush roller quit working. Upon investigating I found that the idler arm pulley was broken so I managed to replace that. Before putting the cover back on I see the control knob for the roller brush moves a plastic piece left or right to activate/deactivate the brush roller. I don't know where this plastic piece connects. It appears to me that the idler are when raised creates tension on the belt which drives the roller. I'm at a loss trying to figure ou

I have two old identical 5842's that I use in the garage and around the house. The belt broke on one so I bought a bag of 2 genuine Eurika "U" belts, which is the correct belt for this vacuum. They were obviously smaller than the original belt because they were not stretched out. When I put the new belt on it lasted about 20 minutes and then came off. I put it back on and ran the vacuum with the cover off to see what was wrong. Everything looked fine except the belt rides to the outside edge of
Not 100% sure this is the remedy for that particular problem, but I would take the time to clean both of the brushes that the belts operate, one on each machine.\015\012Remove the brushes and clean as best you can. The Panasonic MC-V7515 has two belts. The local vacuum repair guy says he only has a part number for the drive belt, which is UB-9. How do I find a replacement for the other belt, the one which directly drives the beater bars? By the way, this vacuum has great suction, but otherwise is far inferior to my previous Panasonic vacuums. The cheaper models aren't a good buy--stick with the more expensive models.

We have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, model Core 7. There is a switch that turns on and off the brush drive. This operates via a cam with a bearing putting pressure on the final drive belt to engage the brush head. My brush head is not turning and with the lever set to engage the drive there is still considerable slack in the final drive belt. There appears to be only a bearing deflecting the belt, should there be a pully or other device mounted on this bearing? There is so much slack a
Yes, there should have been a white plastic sprocket on top of the bearing - in its channel the belt would sit. Unfortunately no parts are available for this unit that can be bought retail - only available by order to dealer repair shops.\012\012\012 ... Hoover Vacuums

Have Hoover Wind Tunnel Sel Propelled vacuum. Had to put on new drive belt. Turn on unit and drive belt slides off the drive spindle.
Look for excessive wear on the unit around the pulleys and their brackets that hold them in place. It sounds like something is just worn out and the belt is either slipping because it is not tight enough or because something is not aligned straight. ... Vacuums

Powerhead woes Drive belt for power head beater brush on Hoover S3755 keeps jumping off drive motor shaft when vacuuming low pile carpets like oriental rugs unless minimal suction is used. Any tricks to keeping the belt in place other than this?

My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns.
