Having problems with your Electrolux UltraLux 2000 Bagged Canister Vacuum ?

My Electrolux Aerus auto rewind chord mechanism is broken. Is there an easy way to remove the back of the canister to replace or fix the spring there?

Answers :

Take out the bag and keep the door open.
\015\012While the bag door is still open, turn the machine upside down so you are looking at the serial number.
\015\012Pull the cord out one foot.
\015\012Use a puddy knife and put it between the rubber side rails and the **** end of the machine.
\015\012Use a hammer or malett to hit the putty knife from the back of the rubber bumber toward the bag door.
\015\012Pull the rubber bumber stright out on both sides.
\015\012Once both bumpers are out pull the lower body of the canister from the **** end toward the intake of the machine.
\015\012Once the bottom is open you can then service the motor, cord winder, switch, and all other components.

I have the broken foot pedal removed from vacuum cleaner proper but it is the removal of the broken pedal from its spring load that has me puzzled. I applied some pulling effort on the pin that holds the spring in place but there doesn't seem to be any give. Is that the correct approach or is there something else that one should be doing first to release some of the resistance by the pin or spring? Thanks!
