I sucked up the fringe on a carpet, it didn't actually get sucked up but it did disconnect the drive mechanism in some way. Any idea how to fix this?

Carpet vacuum attachment quit working after sucking up a bedskirt. Bedskirt has been removed but carpet attachment will not work. I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet.
