Having problems with your Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model 2996AVS Vacuum ?

A cap on one end of the roller brush is centered and turns freely. The one on the other end is not centered and does not turn but does not look broken. It looks like it's supposed to be that way but it doesn't allow the roller brush to turn. How to I solve this?

Answers :

It's hard to say definitively what the problem is here. Rollers usually have bearings at each end and they can wear or freeze up especially if they are exposed to water. When you say that the cap is not centered, I assume that you mean that you have removed the roller and the cap is off center on the end.

\015\012I assume that you cannot make the roller turn with your hand on the uncentered end. I would compare the 2 ends and see if it is possible that the uncentered one has broken and become off center. If there are bearings on the end, you can try to lubricate them and free them (use WD40, or something similar). I'm not sure what the roller for this vacuum is supposed to look like but all of them should spin freely. Wish I had a photo of your roller. Hope this helps some. Good luck!

I have a Eureka 4870GZ. It turns on, but the brush roller doesn't move. The belt looks fine. I do have an extra belt and would try replacing the old belt, but I can't get the old one off the motor shaft or the new one on. I called Eureka customer service. Last night as I was vacuuming, I noticed that the belt stop indicator light was on. I pulled out the hair that had gotten tangled around the brush in hopes of solving the problem. It didn't change things. I then unscrewed the entire bottom piece to take out the brush roller. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together. The brush roller stops turning and I can smell the belt burning, then it will catch and start working normal. I looked under the plate to check the belts and they looked okay and no hang ups of string or anything. The only thing that seemed weird was that the smaller belt that actually attaches and turns the roller is a bit loose. The larger belt is tight but looks like its the one that is burning and causing the smell.

Better to replace both belts the smaller one is stretched out thats whyits slipping ,be sure to clean the old rubber off the motor shaft before replacing the belts.it will cause the new belts to run unevevly and go bad before their time ...
