Having problems with your Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model 2996AVS Vacuum ?

My Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model 2996AVS Vacuum wont turn on. Any advice where to start? I would think it may be a fuse but do not know where it is on this vacuum.

Answers :

Generally, on something with a cord and plug, the first thing I suspect is a bad spot in the cord where it connects to the plug. One way to check it is to turn the vacuum on, plug the plug into a good outlet that you have checked to make sure it works. If the vacuum doesn't come on, then grab the cord about a inch or two behind the plug and push it into the plug, so that if the wire is broken, it will touch enough to make the vacuum come on. If it does come on then you will need to replace the bad plug, If it does not come on, then I would suspect the ON/OFF switch. Best of luck

The 10 amp thermal fuse on my Panasonic MC-E468 vacuum cleaner has blown. Unfortunately the red ink has worn off exactly where the temperature rating is printed so even with a magnifying glass cannot make out the exact replacement fuse to buy. Can anyone shed any light. I know you can buy the complete thermal fuse and wiring from currys partmaster but with delivery would cost about 20 pounds as opposed to 69 pence for the fuse itself. Thanks Mark Roberts

It appears the fuse is not available separately. Standard retail price for the complete unit is £9.00 including VAT. We can supply at that price plus postage and packing at cost, which would probably be no more than £2.50.  If this i ... Vacuums

My Miele s558 Silver moon vacuum just stops suddenly while vacuuming. I can start it again using the button on the handle of the hose. It is erratic, doesn't SEEM to be due to overheating. I read online that this may mean it need a new starter switch. What do you think?

This is caused by a circuit board problem in the hose. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this problem is to purchase a new SES 125-3 hose. The good news is that the new production hoses have rectified this problem and you will not experience it agai ... Miele Vacuums

I was vacuuming my room and all of a sudden I hear this loud noise, then notice the roller brush isn't spinning. Thinking too much hair was caught I separated it from the rod and hose to clean it out, but noticed that the roller brush didn't move at all while I was cleaning it. I've cleaned the brush before and it would roll around with little effort, but this time I couldn't move it at all. After removing hair and string I put the vacuum back together and started it up, but the noise continued,

I have a Dyson upright vacuum cleaner makes a helluva racket whilst in use. Called up Dyson and they told me to flip the floor/carpet knob 10 times back and forth. That did the trick for a short while and it started again. Continue attempts useing that technique does not work. I should have bought a Eureka or something, at least it would have been less expensive. I

I have an Electrolux Oxygen 3 vacuum I purchased rebuilt. After 1 month the power stopped working. I took it into Electrolux Authorized repair dealer, which was a horrible experience. When we received it back it was clearly not as powerful as before. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem may be? I would rather fix it myself than take it back to them. I have a self propelled Royal Dirt Devil vacuum model number 087900 and it goes backward fine but forward has to be pushed so hard it's impossible. Is this a switch? Do you know about how much the part would cost and can it be done by a beginner. We fix a lot of things ourselves but we aren't mechanics by no means. We put a brand new belt on it. I don't think it can be put on backwards and brush turns fine. Where is the switch? Use layman's terms.

You might try a new belt and/or brush roll. The brush roll is what helps pull a vacuum forward, the power drive helps, but if the brush isn't turning like it should, then it will hinder forward motion. The belt may look ok, but they stretch to the ... Vacuums

Have Dyson DC 14. When tilt to vacuum, the handle and coiled hose comes away from the unit. The problem started when the little purple ridged curved part on front of vacuum cleaner right below handle came loose and a spring fell out from somewhere--don't know where. I pushed on the purple ridge part and it snapped back on. Now, can't get it loose again, don't know where the spring goes, and handle still comes loose from vacuum.

I'm not positive whether or not this is the wand handle because there are several versions of the DC14. However the device the locks and unlocks the wand in place is pretty similar between all the versions. The first picture is the wand re ... Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
