I am replacing a foot pedal on an upright Sharp vacuum cleaner-EC-TU2607. I have the broken foot pedal removed from vacuum cleaner proper but it is the removal of the broken pedal from its spring load that has me puzzled. I applied some pulling effort on the pin that holds the spring in place but there doesn't seem to be any give. Is that the correct approach or is there something else that one should be doing first to release some of the resistance by the pin or spring? Thanks!

The foot pedal on my Kenmore upright vacuum cleaner has broken three times. The vacuum model number is 116.33923 and the Sear's part number is 8174906. Does Sears make this part in metal instead of plastic? It is becoming expensive to keep replacing this piece when it costs around $20 each time (including shipping) Thank you for your time. It is not clear how to access the front spool on a Eureka 'Boss - smartvac' 4870K vacuum cleaner, when replacing the belt. Trying to force the flimsy black plastic lever attached to the shiny silver spool where the front end of the belt appears as if it should go, would cause breakage.

The shiny spool is the mechanism that stops the brushroll (brushroll control). The belt only slips around the brushroll, and the motor spindle. ... Eureka Smartvac 4870 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Did you check the brush roll ends to make sure they turn freely. If one on the ends is froze up, then it can't turn. I assume you put on the right belt, a wrong can give you problems. ... Vacuums

The last time the vacuum cleaner was used the outlet sparked causing it to smoke when turning on vacuum cleaner. I replaced the outlet and plugged it in and things seemed o.k. Today I turned on the vacuum, it stayed on for a mili second and went off. I checked the switch on the vacuum and it showed voltage coming and going, but would not turn on again. I checked all the wires in the area of the switch all seemed o.k. I thought maybe there might be a short in the cord. When I went to plug

I have a Kenmore vacuum cleaner model #116.34720. The problem I am having is that if you are rolling the vacuum around, the base will drop without pressing on the handle release pedal. This often results in a bunch of dirt being dumped back out. The manual doesn't show anything about adjusting the handle release pedal so it holds the handle and base in an upright position better. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,
