Having problems with your Eureka Smartvac 4870 Bagged Upright Vacuum ?

The hose split. I ordered a replacement but can't figure out how to remove or loosen the back panel to get the old hose out and the new one in.

\015\012I'm sorry, I thought I had one of these models in stock here so I could take it out of the box and photograph this repair for you. Unfortunately I didn't have the exact same model, however I do have a similar model to yours in stock, which I used to try and demonstrate how to get the new hose in.
\015\012This was a terrible design by Eureka BTW. The new model I photographed today had this problem fixed, and they bottom hose holder no longer is screwed in.
\015\012If you look at the very bottom on the back of your vacuum cleaner, You'll see where this plastic cover piece goes over top of the hose. You need to remove one screw, the one all the way at the bottom in order to install the new hose properly. You'll need to use a T20 Star bit Screw driver, which is kind of rare, and you may need to go out and buy one, as most people don't have these types of screw drivers.
\015\012Here's the picture of the newer model I opened up. If you look where my finger is pointing, you should see the screw:
\015\012Once you've removed this screw, simply pull the flap that goes over top of the hose out, just far enough so you can slide the new hose behind it.
\015\012Once you've pulled the hose about half way through, you can then screw in the screw, and you attach the hose proper way on both ends.
\015\012Hopefully this helped you. If you have still have questions on how to fix this, please just use the comment field at the bottom of the page. I'm always more then happy to help, and I'll try and wait until I get your particular model in stock so I can take better pictures of the repair. If you found this solution helpful, please be so kind and rate the repair helpful by, or by leaving feedback for me, this is really appreciated by the FixYa community.
\015\012Thanks so much,

Last year my wife and I bought a new Dirt Devil Reaction All Surface vaccuum cleaner to replace the older Platinum Force. I am getting very little suction from the motor. The hose is clear, the bag new. When I open the bag cover, plug the hose in and turn the vacuum on, there is next to no suction from the motor. What do you think is wrong? How do I remove the cord retractor to get to the two screws that hold the back of the canopy cover?

Your problem is probably is you don't have a proper seal in your chasis. A vacuum has to be sealed tight or the air will leak out and the seal broken. Check around the whole body after the bag is in and check for any airflow noise. I could help more ... Vacuums

No Suction My two year old Kenmore Progressive stopped working in January. The guy at the Sears service center convinced me that buying a new one would be cheaper than getting it fixed. So I bought the exact same model and now this one has given out in the exact same way! I'm so confused. When I press on, it lights up and makes the whirring noise. Everything seems to be working but there is no suction anywhere. Not in the main part or the hose and there's no "cyclone effect" in the chamber. All

My 8 yr old kenmore vacuum works well - however the hose has worn under the handle where there is a hole (resulting in decreased suction power). I'd like instructions on opening the handle and bypassing the worn piece of tubing rather than replacing it for $129. Some of the handle screws remove easily but the last one doesn't loosen easily.

I have a Kirby Heritage II which normally works amazingly well, but it's not playing at all nicely today - and of course we have apartment inspections tomorrow. *dies* The belt broke today (as did the replacement belt, which I'd bought at the same time, so apparently the rubber was old), so I went over to Stark's to get some new ones - but it still won't cooperate. I've taken the head apart and put it back together several times, to be sure that everything is properly seated, but it's just not

We have two of these vacuums and both of them have experienced the same problems. This is not an electrolux problem, but I am hoping one of the experts can answer the question. I have a Sears air compressor that suddenly stopped working.
