I have a Hoover WindTunnel, Self-propelled model, and it was working great until I ran over a portion of the cord, then it started making a bad noise and I noticed the roller is not moving consistently...I suspect I may have stetched the V-Belt...do you think so?

The V belt usually wears down first. Remove the roller and belt to visually check for wear and belt material in the roller pulley. I would change the flat belt as well. Also, replace the cord if any wires are exposed ... Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum

My Vacuum DC-17 has just quit sucking. It has been making quite a racket since I had the belt changed at a repair shop several months ago. I was told that the belt was a new design and figured that was why it was making so much noise. it seemed to work fine, was picking up dirt and all, but today, when I started vacumming, I noticed it was not sucking air either with the belt engaged or not. My vacuum is approx. 5 years old.

In other words, I think I need an entire bottom plastic plate. The cracked area also makes the foot lever (which lowers or locks the vacuum handle) not work as the crack makes it impossible to work. I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I pulled the brush/spinner thing off one side, cleaned everything, popped it back in where it belonged, and tried to make sure the belt was in the proper alignment. My Dyson animal seems to have an electrical issue that I am unable to pinpoint. Neither the wand nor the floor vac have any suction AT ALL. I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet. Seems to work fine on Berber carpet and laminate floor. My husband has checked to make sure the brushes are working, hoses are not clogged and belts are OK. I've had it for about a year. It is virutally impossible to push on the new carpet. Any ideas?

Oreck XL21 just will not work at all any more. Beater is clean - belt is fine. Fresh bag - inflates. Took the thing apart - checked for blockages at intake, bag entry, and the tube. We take it in for maintenance as recommended to replace filters, etc. Is there some miracle trick to make it work or sho

Did you make sure the brush turns freely? Even though it is clean, if it does not turn freely with the belt, it will not beat the carpet and pull debris up into the unit.\015\012\015\012Another (drastic?) thing to try would be to take the unit ... Vacuums

I have a kirby sentria vaccum carpet shampoo system and I cannot get the shampoo suction head to work! It comes on but the belt is not turning. I have tried taking it off and looking at the assembly but no luck. And I have tried turning the belt engage lever to off and on to see if it makes any diference.

I had the same problem at first but figured it out. Make sure before you put it on the vacuum itself, that the shampooing unit is completely together. The belt needs to be taunt like it would be when the brush is turning. Once you put it on and turn ... Vacuums

My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush rotating. It does not happen hen I shut the roller brush off. The belt is fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong as there are no clogs, debris, or foreign objects stuck in the brush or in the belt. The noise seems to be the only issue. The vacuum picks up fine.
