Having problems with your Filter Queen Majestic Canister Vacuum ?

Replacing the powerhead motor

\015 I was told by a repairman that the Filter Queen powerhead motor is difficult to remove and replace because of a hidden screw. Where can I find this screw or screws so that I can replace the motor? Thank you\015

Answers :

Depending on which powerhead you have the screw may be under the decal on top of the powerhead. you should be able to feel an indent above the motor. most of the other heads do not have a "hidden screw".

I have a Filter Queen Majestic 360 and am having problems with the powerhead. There is a loud rattling noise in the powerhead, especially when I vacuum thicker carpet. I have replaced the motor, roller brush, and belt, but the rattling remains. It sounds like it is coming from the roller brush area, and when I turn the powerhead over, it rolls free and sounds fine. Any thoughts?

I replaced the powerhead drive belt. Now (2 times) while vacuuming the powerhead motor appears to run backwards. Because the metal pully which has left hand threads on it will backout / unscrew it self. Prior to this belt rerplacement it functioned properly. Thank You Bob

Replacement motor I purchase a replacement motor for a F5897-900 Hoover SteamVa Motor part # 43576197 or 27242051. The replacement motor has three electrical connectors + ground were as the orginal has two electrical connectors + ground. Do I ingnore the the thrid connector and hook up the wires to the same connectors as the orginal or do I have to do some rewiring.

The manual only show one wire from the motor going to the switch, the other going to the cord, then the ground wire. I would wire it the way your old motor was, could be that some models maybe were 2 speed and the other wire would be used for that. ... Vacuums

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,
