I have had this vacuum for about 5 years now. You need to change the belt every 6 months. Walmart sells a bag of 3 replacement belts.
Sometimes it's the bearings in the roller.. Take it apart.. Checck to see if the roller turns freely when the ends are heald. You may need a neew roller with new bearings... Been there done that.

The brush roller stops turning and I can smell the belt burning, then it will catch and start working normal. I looked under the plate to check the belts and they looked okay and no hang ups of string or anything. The only thing that seemed weird was that the smaller belt that actually attaches and turns the roller is a bit loose. The larger belt is tight but looks like its the one that is burning and causing the smell.

Better to replace both belts the smaller one is stretched out thats whyits slipping ,be sure to clean the old rubber off the motor shaft before replacing the belts.it will cause the new belts to run unevevly and go bad before their time ... My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush rotating. It does not happen hen I shut the roller brush off. The belt is fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong as there are no clogs, debris, or foreign objects stuck in the brush or in the belt. The noise seems to be the only issue. The vacuum picks up fine. It just doesn't sound right a

Last night as I was vacuuming, I noticed that the belt stop indicator light was on. I pulled out the hair that had gotten tangled around the brush in hopes of solving the problem. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together. I'm using (or WAS using) a Eureka ''the boss'' model 8803. The belt broke, no biggie, so I replaced it with a Eureka model U belt, the problem is when I put the new belt on and turn on the vaccuum, the belt breaks again. I am also having trouble getting the brush roller to fit right when the belt is in place. I can't find any sharp edges that would cut the belt, nor can I find where any small bits may have broken. Anyone have a solution for me?

My 4870 K Boss is 2 years old. I have replaced belts & filters in the specified intervals. This last time I replaced the belt after a year, it shredded 3 of them on the outside edge of the belt in about 5 minutes of use. I ordered a new brush roller & heavy duty belt which I installed. It began shredding the belt in less than 5 minutes of use. What is your suggestion? Is this a known problem with this model? Eureka says no and is not standing behind it.

The only reason why it would be shredding the belt is if the pulleys were not lined up correctly. Check the allignement of the belt to make sure there is nothing kepping the pulleys from being in line. The other thing that it could be is if the rolle ... Vacuums
