Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.
It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums
Henry hoover Hi all, I bought a spares/ repairs Henry on ebay having been told there was no cable rewind and believing that since I had a spare one in the shed it would be an easy fix. However, poor Henry had his cable replaced to find when plugged in, he tries to start but nothing happens. The motor turns once and just cuts out. If you turn it on and off again it happens again. One whir and turn of the motor, then nothing. It blew the fuses out in the kitchen first time too, so could it be a re

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

When the power button on the handle is pressed the green power-level lights on the handle light, but the motor sounds like it gives a little 'jump' but nothing more. We own a dirt devil model 088600, and are experiencing a problem with the belt wearing away a section between where the belt connects to the brushes and the motor. There is a lot of plastic/rubber residue coming out from the vacuum. We have tried new belts only to find the same problem occurs. I noticed that the source of the dust is coming from the section between the brushes and motor, where there appears to be a section that is misshapen and melted. I have an old Hoover vacuum model # U5035-930. The belt broke and I tried replacing the belt myself. I couldn't stretch the belt to attach it to the motor pully. It was belt # 38525-027 M6. Which I got from the previous owner. I took it to a vacuum repair place and he replaced it with belt # 38528-027 J4. I cannot find this belt anywhere.

The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can't find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned the brush but it does not seem to want to turn. Does this machine need to be oiled so the roller will turn? Is there a way to check inside the motor? Do you think that because the brush won't turn that is making the noise? Do you know of any repair shops in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area?
