Filter I bought this Hoover a few years ago-- just now about to use it first time. I cannot find my user's manual and don't know how to change the filter-- or to clean it or whatever I am supposed to do with it. Also, there is a handle on one side of the unit that seems to be attached to an empty chamber or canister kind of thing. It looks like it should pull out, but it does not budge. I really would like to have a manual, but can't seem to find one. Is there a similar model that is still

I have a Eureka Altima vaccuum and it no longer suctions like it use to and also has a burning smell. I have cleaned all filters, brush, hoses, and filters. There are no blockages. I have also checked the belt and it's still good. Any other ideas as to what may be the problem?

My dyson animal is hard to push on carpet - the beater bar is still operational. When I turn off the beater bar and run the vacuum on hardwood the beater bar stops moving, but it still ''rolls'' on the hardwood - it doesn't pull up like it used to. It also seems to not be picking up as well as it used to, although no blockages are present and the filter is clean.

I just used my Bissell Proheat, when I heard the vacuum sound get lower and lower then suddenly something "gave" and it got very loud and started emitting a burnt rubber smell. It still worked to put liquid into the carpet; seemed to have trouble getting it out. I checked the tank, filters, belt, and roller and all seemed OK - but when I started up again and looked down I saw sparks in the motor/belt area and shut it down immediately. Any thoughts?

The bearing that is located at the top of the vacuum motor has failed . Because of that the shaft of the motor's rotor is out of position and the pulley attached to it has started rubbing on the other pulleys, giving you that smell. the spark appear ... How to disassemble the brush to empty anything that might be stuck inside of the brush? The motor seems to be overheating, all belts have been checked, all airways are clear and the filter is clean. The vacuum is vibrating and releasing a burning smell, but still sucking up dirt. There is nothing stuck on the outside of the brush, but is there a way to check inside of it to see if that is where a clog is occuring?

If there's a burning smell and the belts are fine, the problem is going to be hot wires causing the insulation to melt, or the motor going bad. Discontinue use and have it checked at a repair shop. ... Bissell 6594 PowerForce Bagless Upright Vacuum

I have a nearly 9 year old Electrolux Excellio Z5228 vacuum cleaner. It has recently started cutting out during operation. I cleaned the micro filter (between bag & motor) via brush & hitting against wall & seems / looks quite clean. I washed the gore filter (output from motor to clean the exhaust air) as per instructions, then let to dry. It was very clogged but now very clean. The vacuum clearner still cuts out often. I have a Hoover Elite Rewind vacuum. Actually, this is my second one. However, after about 4 months of use, it emits a "sour" smell when I'm using it. I empty the cannister before each use and clean out the filter monthly. My house has mainly hardwood floors, so I typically only use it on area rugs and 2 small carpeted rooms. Is there any way that I can get rid of the smell? I've tried putting a dryer sheet in the cannister, but this gets stuck in the filter mechanism. Also, carpet fresh clogs th

Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.

It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums

Wondering if the head is plugged up because it makes a sound like air is escaping somewhere. I've replaced the original cloth bag with a comparable "O" paper bag from Sears. I tried to see if there was a clog in the hose by placing a broom handle in the hose to see if something would loosen. I also cleaned the filter and the air filter. If the head is plugged, how can I fix it? We can't get the vacuum apart. Thanks.

Hello! I purchased the cascade 170 internal filter for my tadpole this past Tuesday. All seemed to be well until I returned home from work this Sunday morning to find him dead. There was a film of little white bubbles all of the top layer of the water. The filter was submersed however it appeared that some of the water had evaporated but was still over the top of the filter. Is there a problem with the filter or the level of water? I have a Kenmore central vacuum cleaner model number c107 34601. We have emptied the bucket and shaken the filter out to clean it. With cleaning carpets with the Stowaway when the head gets a blockage it makes a high pitched whining sound and requires unblocking - then works fine. Now when vacuuming the head always makes the same sound when the head is against the carpet. you can also see that the rollers are slow or stopped. We have pulled the Stowaway virtually completely apart and checked for blockages as well as washed the filter and no difference. Any ideas?

My steam pocket mop seems clogged. Steam does not come out of the mop head. The clog appears to be in the rectangular mop head. The triangular head still works fine. I've tried soaking it in hot water and soaking it with cleaning solutions. They have not worked. If I blow into the connection piece, no air goes through. That's what leads me to believe there is a clog. If you can help, please do. I like the product and haven't been able to use it for awhile because of this. Thanks.

Vorwerk ET 340 - been great but now noticing strong burning smell after vacuuming some hair from the bathroom. Bag is nearly empty. Gave it a rest then unscrewed the cover housing the motor and all looks clean (dust is sucked up the pipe and doesn't appear to get near the motor). When I restarted it, burning smell still there. I have a Hoover, Steam spin scrub, Model F5897-900. Only used it a couple times and the motor gave out. First started being noisy then a bad smell. It did seem noisier that what I would expect from the start but I didn't realize it was a problem with the shaft of the motor.
