Having problems with your Hoover U5194-900 Mach5 Multi-Chamber Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner Bagless Vacuum ?

Shutting off due to overheating

\015 The machine shuts down after less than two minutes of running. When I take the canister out, the base of the machine feels very hot. I have cleaned the plastic filter that you lift out of the base of the unit but that has not helped.\015\012I ordered a new one but they sent me foam style filters but not the plastic unit.\015\012What can I do to keep this machine running?\015\012\015\012Tricia\015

Answers :

The foam style filters they sent you go in the top of the vaccume above the canister. There is a sticker in the back of the canister compartment indicating an orange lever in the top of that compartment. This releases a plastic retainer with the foam filter in it. Mine was so caked with dirt after 1 year of use it took a while to clean it up. I thought the vaccume was done for in only a year.

I have a Windsor Sensor s12 and power shuts off after 5 min. of vacuuming. I'm wondering if it's overheating of if there is some other sensor that causes it to shut off.

My Miele s558 Silver moon vacuum just stops suddenly while vacuuming. I can start it again using the button on the handle of the hose. It is erratic, doesn't SEEM to be due to overheating. I read online that this may mean it need a new starter switch. What do you think?

On our Hoover U6445-900 (Mach 6.9) we replaced the small belt that goes to beater brushes in front of unit. Upon starting, the Hoover quickly got hot and smoky. We shut it off and looked things over carefully, but the second try also resulted in friction heat on the belt. Now it appears the belt may have stretched due to heat and the brushes won't spin. Any ideas?

Are you sure you purchased the right size belt..the friction you speak of is usually caused by a belt not being the right tightness or a jammed beater brush ... Hoover U6446-900 WindTunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum

The vacuum shuts down once it's used for about 20 minutes - overheating? If anybody has any ideas, give me a shout.

Seems to be a common problem with the Euro-Pros. They happen to wrap their motors with a foam filter. This acts as an insulating blanket, retaining a ton of heat. I removed mine, and so far, it works a lot better. ... Euro-Pro UV209 Upright Vacuum

ShopVac pump The waterhose connection is up high. The only way to get the water up to the level of the hose is to continually hold down the on button due to the automatic shut off after it fills to a certain level. On the bottom of the filter there is a hole. I am thinking there should be a small hose of some sort to put into that hole that would then lead up to the level of the water hose. Concept makes sense to me. But in the meantime, good old duct tape seems to have done the trick. Not exact
