Burning smell coming from vacuum
\015 We have had our Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Twin Chamber vacuum for a few years. We have two small dogs and two small children. The vacuum has recently started to make a burning smell when used. I have replaced the filter only once or twice and never replaced or cleaned the hepa filter. I am wondering if the problem is associated with the filters, or if it is a broken belt (which I cannot find), or something else. Also I would like to know if I need to clean or replace the hepa filter. If it needs to be cleaned, how do I do that?\015
Use a penny to turn the 2 screws on top a quater turn then fold down the vacuum and lift up the cover and you will have access to the belt. Clean the small hepa filter with soapy water. their may be 2 of them. The cannnister filters need to be shaken but not washed. Good luck.
The burning smell is most likely the worn belt. you can get the replacement for your model here:

I heard that a class action lawsuit against Oreck Vacuum is being started because of all the problems customers are having with their vacuums. Does anyone know about this? My Oreck is only a couple of years old and keeps burning up belts. I took it in after only one week of usage when I started to notice white smoke coming out of it and the smell of burning rubber. I feel like I got the old run-around, when the service tech told me he couldn't find anything wrong (but replaced the burned up belt

I just bought the LG200R vacuum. It is working wonderfully but i have only had it a week. I have already had to clean the agitator but this is due to my extremely long hair and apparently i shed a lot. I was wondering if i should be alarmed by the funny smell it leaves in the air. Its not like a burning rubber smell but more like a fresh plastic smell or sorta chemical like smell (hard to describe) and it doesn't need to be on to make this smell it seems to be permeating off the vacuum itself

I have the Kenmore Model 116.36722600 Vacuum; while cleaning the carpets the vacuum all of the sudden stop working; I didn't smell anything burning; it was almost like someone unplugged it. I checked the rollers and I can move it forward and backwards with no problem. Do you think the motor just burned out? Does this vacuum have a fuse that I can reuse? Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.
It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums
Vorwerk ET 340 - been great but now noticing strong burning smell after vacuuming some hair from the bathroom. Bag is nearly empty. Gave it a rest then unscrewed the cover housing the motor and all looks clean (dust is sucked up the pipe and doesn't appear to get near the motor). When I restarted it, burning smell still there. Are there any filters that might need changing? What could be causing the smell? Could the hair have gotten caught somewhere? Thanks.

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

I have a Eureka Power Plus vacuum, model 4702, type A. To start off, it never really had great suction. Marginal at best. Then today I was vacuuming and smelled something burning and turned off the vacuum. At that point, smoke started pouring out from the bottom of the vacuum so I layed it on it's side and the smoke cleared but I never found the source. Is it safe to turn on again after I let it cool down or is my vacuum "shot?"
