Having problems with your Hoover U5780-900 Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless UprightVacuum ?
Makes vibration noise when the brushes are on
\015 When it is on and the brushes are activated they make a lot of noise\015
If you caught anything like a shoe laces or anything that may stop the brushes, it could be that the agitator will have to be replaced. you can tell by looking at the agitatior where the v-belt goes. if there is cut grooves or plastic build up from the brush stopping. then the v-belt and agitator would have to be replaced. hope this helps
If its low humming noise, then thats usually the sound of brushes on flooring generally. To lessen it, try and adjust the height adjustment to make gliding easier.

When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.
Yes, the belt could have been stretched and is now vibrating and hitting other parts and creating a noise if much of the bag got caught under the belt. If you have another belt for this vacuum, please put it on and see if the noise stops. If it does ... Hoover U5780-900 Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless UprightVacuum
My FEIN 9-55-'13 recently started making more noise and is now officially a "screamer". There also developed quite a vibration associated with the noise which made me think it was probably bearings. So I took it apart and found no detectable play or lateral movement in the bearings, they seem fine to me. So I thought perhaps the brushes. The rotor where the brushes ride is quite black but I can't figure out how to get to those brushes, although I don't really think they are causing the noise
This problem is only caused by one thing the motor bearings are noisy, I have never found any other reason, they may look good and fell good but trust me replace the motor and the noise ... Fein 9-55-13 Turbo II Bagged Canister Vacuum

My brush roller stopped spinning so I had to take it off and clean out all the hair that had gotten wound around it. I replaces it and now it is make a lound noise, but only when the brush is on. Could it be the belt making such a loud sound? It wasn't making this noise before.
Could very well be the belt.\015\012When cleaning the brush it is a good idea to add some WD40 at the ends where the plastic pieces are that hold the brush in the vacuum. The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can't find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned the brush but it does not seem to want to turn. Does this machine need to be oiled so the roller will turn? Is there a way to check inside the motor? Do you think that because the brush won't turn that is making the noise? Do you know of any repair shops in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area?
As far as the roller brush goes, yes, it does need to be cleaned. Follow the directions to remove it and clean as best you can of all debris. On both ends of the roller brush there will be two "holders" of sort that connect the brush to the frame o ... Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
I replaced the belt on my Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum and the brush roller rubs and makes a very loud noise when turned on. I have gone exactly by the manual instructions and made sure the belt and end caps were on correctly, but the bristles still rub the back and it makes a very loud noise. Without the brush roller in the vacuum, it sounds and runs normal. What could the problem be?

My bissell model 18Z6 has developed a loud noise and vibration when the brush is running. I have removed the brush assy and cleaned all the hair, etc but still the noise. I ran the brush motor with the belt disconnected and all seemed ok, but of course there was no load on the motor. I suspect a problem with the brush assy bearings or axle or both but I hate to just throw parts at the problem. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible "ratcheting"sound only when the brush is engaged on the carpet setting. I have cleaned the brush, so there are no obstructions, the canister is empty and properly on the unit. I checked to make sure all of the "traps" and hoses are clear of obstructions, the belt is on the brush securely and moves freely, the brush itself spins freely, but there is still the "ratcheting" noise. Any other suggestions?

Hi its Darran at Dyson. The screws on the base of the cleaner head should not have to be removed to access the brush bar so it is possible that the brush bar has come out of alignment, hence the noise the machnie is making. Pl ... Dyson Ball DC24 Bagless Upright Vacuum
