Why is self propelled not working on my hoover windtunnel

\015 Brush belt loose drive belt seems to be tight\015

Hi there SmartAlec from Nelsonvacuums.com.au here. Actually the brush belt needs to be tight as well for the self propell function to work. However once you change that if it is still not working it could be the drive mechanism itself. You can test this by laying the vacuum flat on its belly so you can see the brushes. Turn it on and push the handle down (as if you were actually vacuuming). This should get your drive wheels going they are two wheels about 3 inches away from your brushes. If they are not turning then you need a new drive mechanism. If you are in australia i can get you one through our website above.
\015\012Hope this helps. Happy Vacuuming :)

Just replaced the belts on my Hoover Windtunnel II self-propelled vacuum. The brushes are now turning ok, but the self propelled feature is not working. Squeals when when you lock it in the upright position.

Check the plastic part, which the the self propelled cable is attached to. (release the handle, tilt it back. You should be able to see the cable attached by a screw to a black plastic arm.) It is either broken or the cable is lose. ... Hoover U6630-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

I've replaced filters and the attachment part is working fine, just when it's in the upright position it won't pick anything up. It also doesn't seem to be self propelled anylonger either. It use to **** everything up, including the dog. Please help!

The belt that drives the brush roll has broken. That's why it doesn't pick up and why it doesn't pull itself forwards. Check the User Manual (download from Hoover website if necessary) for information on replacing the belt. Good luck! ... Hoover U6630-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

I have a Hoover WindTunnel, Self-propelled model, and it was working great until I ran over a portion of the cord, then it started making a bad noise and I noticed the roller is not moving consistently...I suspect I may have stetched the V-Belt...do you think so?

Brush Roll belt stops turning durring vacuuming on WindTunnel self-propelled, v belt is a little loose with handle down. Tensioning roll is engaged OK, but fully at the end of its travel. Replaced belts flat and v, but still stops turning even on high carpet setting when vacuuming. Carpet setting and height adjustment appears to be working OK, roll is clean and turns easily when out. Also turns easily until it engages the carpet. Self propel function works just fine.

Hoover U6637-960 the self propel is not not working. When lowering the handle it acts like it would like to work but the roller will not turn. appears to be something to do with the self propel part of the handle . took the screws aout but can not get it apart. Is there another belt of something in there?

This vac has 2 belts. If both self propel and roller not spinning then most likely it is the wide flat belt broken or off. 4 screws on the bottom should gain you access to the belt area. another issue for this model series is a worn pulley on the rol ... Hoover Upright Bagless WindTunnel does not self propel (U6625-900). Belts are new, Brush turns strongly. Wheels propel forward very weakly and do not reverse when the handle is pulled backward.
