No vacuum suction during normal floor cleaning operation

\015 Hose for attachments has suction but floor vacuum doesn't work.\015\012When in the upright position, a lever closes a door in the suction line so that the hose can be disconnected and used with attachments. When the hose is re-attached and cleaner is moved from the upright position to the floor-operating position, the lever disengages and I believe a spring is suppose to return the door to an open position.\015\012\015\012the spring load on this door is not working properly and the door remains closed. i can see a torsion spring wrapped around the lever but apparently it either doesn't work the way i'm imagining it or something changed with the spring.\015\012\015\012Anyone ever see this before? (this is actually a U6632-900, upright, self-propelled, whirlwind).\015\012\015

That door is called a valve door, and it may have broken, part #38718013. Or the valve arm, rear broke, part number 38719048. The spring part # is 38358001. Usually it is the valve arm that breaks. You would have to take the top cover off, then you can see the parts.

I have the Hoover max Extract 77 and when I'm cleaning the carpet, the clean water tank leaks on the floor, even if I'm not squeezing the trigger. The clean tank doesn't leak when I fill it, but once I place it where it fits and start using the vacuum, the clean water drains out on the floor. The dirty tank fills up, so the suction works, but, I don't know what is going on?

I've had my Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaner now for approximately 9 months and been very happy with my purchase. However, It is used sparingly maybe twice a week at the very most. The problem is when I try to use the item on my carpet, you have to push really hard to get it to move. It's as though the suction power is far to strong. It certainly doesn't glide as I think it should. It still picks up as usual but I cannot imagine that having to 'force' the machine to move is the normal operating procedu

The motor overheats and shuts off. This annoying because it has done it at least 5 times today during normal vacuuming. It shuts off easily when you use the hose and canister to clean the steps or around the floor. What can I do to alleviate this problem?

I bought a Kenmore canister vacuum, model 116, in April 2007. This morning, the sound of the motor suddenly began to deepen, and I began to lose suction. Normally, if something is clogging the hose, the motor will wind up to a higher pitch, not a lower one. The filters are clean, the bag is empty, and I can't detect anything lodged in the hose. If this were a car's engine, I would say it's "lugging down". Any pointers?
