HI There,

This is definitely a problem with your belts. This Hoover Windtunnel Self-Propelled models has a poorly designed belt system that frequently goes bad. Most customers will have to replace the belt once every 8-12 months, some even more frequently than that.

There are 2 belts on this machine, and it's recommended that you replace both belts at the same time. If you just replace one of the belts, this will cause the other belt to go bad quicker.

If you don't already have the replacement belts, here are links to these belts through us:
Hoover WindTunnel Self Propelled Belt Set (38528-034 & 38528-035)

Here's a helpful video that we've recorded that shows you step by step on how to replace these belts, as well as how to do the basic maintenance on the roller brush to prolong the life of the belts as long as possible.

How To Replace the belts on a Hoover Windtunnel Self-Propelled:

Please be sure to rate this repair helpful, or leave feedback if this video helped you fix the problem. If you're still having problems, please just use the comment field on the repair page and leave a little more specific information on what happened when you inspected the belts, and I'll be more then happy to do some further more advanced diagnosing for you.

By rating the repairs helpful, and leaving feedback, this ensures that Fixya experts continue to leave free repair solutions rather then just leaving premium answers, or repairs that customers pay to have answered. This is also really appreciated.

Replacing the belts is pretty straightforward, but the new one is too loose also, like the worn out one, and the brush still won't move. I am coming to despise this unit.

We have a new hoover bagless that is a couple months old. The pet hair attachment stopped working. I disassembled it found lots of hair wound around the various rollers and removed - painstakingly thorough i might add. Problem is the brush still wont spin and now the belt seems loose - I think I put it all back together correctly but wondering if there is a trick to this?

The brush roller stops turning and I can smell the belt burning, then it will catch and start working normal. I looked under the plate to check the belts and they looked okay and no hang ups of string or anything. The only thing that seemed weird was that the smaller belt that actually attaches and turns the roller is a bit loose. The larger belt is tight but looks like its the one that is burning and causing the smell.

Better to replace both belts the smaller one is stretched out thats whyits slipping ,be sure to clean the old rubber off the motor shaft before replacing the belts.it will cause the new belts to run unevevly and go bad before their time ... Hello! I have a problem with my Tefal Sensio scales. They are now probably around four years' old and have been in perfect working order up to now. Well, I had some problems before - the moment I'd step on them, instead of going into "calculating mode" as they usually do, they would show the number 92 straight away and then the display would change into some strange symbols (please don't laugh here :-) - my weight in kg is 55, my husband's around 80 and each of us gets 92 reading). Last night as I was vacuuming, I noticed that the belt stop indicator light was on. I pulled out the hair that had gotten tangled around the brush in hopes of solving the problem. It didn't change things. I then unscrewed the entire bottom piece to take out the brush roller. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together. It seems

I have a iRobot 4150 and have recently experiencing performance issues with the vacuum. Recently, it started stopping about a minute after you turn it on. I thought maybe the battery was the issue, but I bought a replacement. It has worked well for the past 6 months. While it's running it sounds like it is going to die, even though it is fully charged. Any ideas?

Motor just makes 4 or 5 small clicking noises when you pull the trigger, then stops. The little lights illumintae around the "max" button as well. However, the motor does not engage in the slightest. I just used it in the morning, plugged it back in and it has not worked since. Any ideas?

With cleaning carpets with the Stowaway when the head gets a blockage it makes a high pitched whining sound and requires unblocking - then works fine. Now when vacuuming the head always makes the same sound when the head is against the carpet. you can also see that the rollers are slow or stopped. We have pulled the Stowaway virtually completely apart and checked for blockages as well as washed the filter and no difference. Any ideas?

You can take off the power head and look in that whole where the belt is and see if there is a paper towel or something in there clogging it up. Also tug on the belt and make sure it is tight - because if it is loose it is broken and you ... Kirby Vacuums

My electrolux ambassador power wand quit working. I replaced the switch that shuts it off when the roller stops, but it wasn't the problem. The on/off switch is fine, the motor is fine. Havent used for about two years. I had to put the belt on it. It doesnt seem to be sucking up very well and after about 15 minutes of vaccuuming the bag was empty. My house got really dusty. I know the rollers were spinning because i looked. I could hear some dirt going in but could definatly tell it wasnt working properly. Is it in reverse or something?

After two years you need to make sure the bag is connected properly and inspect it for tears and that the hoses are connected correctly and not deteriorated. Make sure the hose is clear. You should be able to feel the suction at the end of the hose. ... Vacuums

No suction Just received my refurb. dyson animal bagless. Finally figured out how to get it all together, turned it on and there is no suction coming up thru the beater bar. The hair is just collecting around the bar and not going up into the canister. It appears all the suction is going thru the open red end of the attachment hose, which has a vented cover piece. Am I missing a piece or is there a switch to turn of the attachment suction?

So the red hose isn't connected to a part on the vaccum so like it is connected to the connester but not to an opening just above the beater bar, this is the only idea i can supply you with. good luck, maybe i got lucky and helped you out. ... Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
