How did you remove the top cover to get at the arm for the cable drive? (I don't want to break anything else!)
Turn it over, remove the plate over the brush roll, remove the cover over the intake hose, then there are 2 screws, one on each site, remove them, then using a flat blade, there is a slot on each side, from the bottom, push it in to release it and then the top will come off.

I need to remove the top cover from a Wertheim w4030, I have removed all screws that I can get at. I have notice a further 3 in places that is not possible to access. It looks as though the two buttons on the top if removed will provide the solution but I don't want to break anything by forcing something that is not supposed to be done. Can you help?

My Dyson DC24 sucked in a backpack strap and tripped. I then decided to pull out the brush and clean off whatever else happened to be clung onto it and put it back in.
