Front drops down when lifted
\015 I tripped over the vacuum one night and something snapped. Now the front of the vacuum will not remain at 90 degrees when lifted. Practically impossible to clean stairs. What did I break, how much does it cost, and can I put the new part on? I think that it's just a little piece of plastic that broke off a bottom plate. Can anyone tell me what part to order? A local shop said that it would be $250.00 to fix - talk to the next sap in line!!!! Thanks for any help, MaryEllen\015
MaryEllen, This vac is only $250 to replace. By your description, the part you may have broken is called a pedal release lever. Very inexpensive to replace, under $7.00; Yes, you can replace it yourself, it does not go in too easy or the old one may not come out too easy. I would suggest that someone you trust that is handy look at it. I would also make sure the socket in which the pedal snaps into has not been damaged or cracked. You can inspect it with a light by turning it over. if there are cracks or damage to the base unit, the cost is higher but can be cost effective for repair

I dropped my battery operated alarm clock: the second hand still works but the alarm doesn't come on at the set time and the hour & minute hands don't "hold" their position - I took the clear front off and discovered that I could move the hands to a more secure place on the center spindle but I discovered during the night that the correct time was no longer showing. I really like this clock b/c it's battery operated and I can hear the alarm (when it worked) plus it has a "night vision" dial tha

Dyson vacuum I have a DC07 vaccuum. The problem I am having is that the front does not want to stay down as I vaccuum and I continuously have to keep stepping on the front to make it go back down to the floor. It seems as though there is either not enough weight in the front or possibly the unit just has to be broken in so that there is not so much resistance between the handle and the front of the vaccuum. Could there be something I did not remove or is this typical on these vaccuums?

The removable filter at the front is cleaned regularly, and is not clogged. However, the machine appears to be suffering from being clogged by dust, as it has started to make a high pitched noise, and I fear it may burn out. I can see some dust inside the front panel but cannot see how to remove the front to clean it out. (NB. I have located two screws - one on either side - but cannot see how to proceed further.) Please help! Thank you.

My Kirby 2HD has started making an odd roaring noise but still works fine. I have taken the front assembly off and cleaned and adjusted the roller and checked the belt. The noise seems to come from the motor housing. I have tried to wiggle the main shaft at the front (bearings?) and it seems tight. Can't seem to get the other housings apart. Any ideas? Thanks, John
It is quite possible, it just needs lubed. The motor comes in direct contact with dirt so, you have to make sure the front bearing has a drop of oil on it from time to time. If it starts to scream at you within one month, after oiling, the bearing ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum

I want to brush the pile up on my carpet do I need a special attachment to do this??. I have shampood it and it still seems a bit flat. When I shampood no water/foam filled up in the front tray???I am sure I had attached everything correctly. The only thing I can think of is when I attach the brush and tray to the front of the machine, do I turn the handle back to the right way up, or do I leave it upside down, this is the one that picks up the belt.
