Brushes are not rotating, V-belt seems too loose
\015 Hello,\015\012\015\012I realized last week, that the main brush is not rotating. I took the bottom cover off and realized that the existing v-belt seems too loose. But I could not figure out how it could become bigger overnight. Today I bought a new v-belt and also a new drive belt at Sears and after installing the new belts it seems that the new v-belt is again too loose and does not grab the brush-wheel tightly enough to rotate ir. The one roll that is driven by the broad drive belt which\302\240does rotate fast, but the v-belt is not moved along as it seems to be too big. Nothing else seems loose or moved. HELP!!!\015\012\015\012Thanks!\015
V-belt suppose to be loose (according the manual). I just replaces it (and was worry that it is loose), but brush rotating fine. So your problem is somewhere else.
The v belt goes over the small silver wheel pully, not under. it is actually quite simple. I had to find out the hard way. I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong with the belt and why it was so loose!

Noise My Dyson DC08 is making a loud, rough, vibration/noise that seems to be coming from the from the rotating brush housing. I replaced the old belt which was several years old and slipping. The bearings on the rotating brush seem to be running smoothly when turned by hand both when out of the brush holder and when installed in the machine. I can't find anything rubbing on the belt or rotating brush. I applied a bit o

Hoover Wind Tunnel 7500 Brush not Turning. I have replaced the Brush and the belt. The problem does not seem to be either to me. I believe might be a missing part. The place were the belt hooks on is a metal pole which never seems to grip the belt well. In fact it seems loose most of the time and slips on the brush, causing the belt to eventually burn up. Could there be a missing plastic or rubber piece meant to hold the belt taught on the metal pole?

I have a Hoover Windtunnel U 6439-900. The agitator brush will not turn. I installed 2 new belts, # 38528034, and # 38528-035 There is so much slack in belt # 3852034 (brush drive) that it cannot grip the brush. There does not seem to be any adjustment to take up the slack. I've put in new belts twice now & cannot get brush to rotate or tighten the belt to the brush.

My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush rotating. It does not happen hen I shut the roller brush off. The belt is fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong as there are no clogs, debris, or foreign objects stuck in the brush or in the belt. The noise seems to be the only issue. The vacuum picks up fine. It just doesn't sound right a

The brush roller stops turning and I can smell the belt burning, then it will catch and start working normal. I looked under the plate to check the belts and they looked okay and no hang ups of string or anything. The only thing that seemed weird was that the smaller belt that actually attaches and turns the roller is a bit loose. The larger belt is tight but looks like its the one that is burning and causing the smell.
Better to replace both belts the smaller one is stretched out thats whyits slipping ,be sure to clean the old rubber off the motor shaft before replacing the belts.it will cause the new belts to run unevevly and go bad before their time ... When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.
