I believe the clutch on my dyson "animal" is stuck. It makes this horrible noise when you try to lower the brush roll to vacuum.
Hi its Darran at Dyson. \012\012Your machine is designed to make this ratchet noise if the brush bar is \012obstructed. We would recommend checking the brush bar and soleplate \012area and removing any blockages or hairs/threads that are ... Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
Hoover Windtunnel U5750-900 Agitator brush is weak. It turns fine if I tilt the vacuum back, but it slows to almost 1/4 speed when it touches carpet, even on the highest carpet setting. I've replaced the agitator belt twice. The brush used to turn powerfully even on the lowest (Hard Floor) setting. Ideas? I should probably lube the agitator brush ball bearings, and re-check the belt, but, other than that, I'm stumped.

My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible "ratcheting"sound only when the brush is engaged on the carpet setting. I have cleaned the brush, so there are no obstructions, the canister is empty and properly on the unit. I checked to make sure all of the "traps" and hoses are clear of obstructions, the belt is on the brush securely and moves freely, the brush itself spins freely, but there is still the "ratcheting" noise. Any other suggestions?
Our DC33 was making the same ratcheting sound immediately upon placing the cleaner/brush head on the carpet. We carefully pulled the beater/brush bar out of the vacuum. Once removed, we pulled the black plastic end off of the center rod. We discovere ... Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

I cleaned out my dyson ball as it smelt when i hoovered, cleaned filters, washed out canister and took the screws out of the front bar so i could clean near the brushes.. now its making a high pitched noise and when i switch it off it makes a noise like an engine shutting down! Have i disturbed the motor?
Hi its Darran at Dyson. The screws on the base of the cleaner head should not have to be removed to access the brush bar so it is possible that the brush bar has come out of alignment, hence the noise the machnie is making. Pl ... Dyson Ball DC24 Bagless Upright Vacuum
I have a Hoover Windtunnel U 6439-900. The agitator brush will not turn. I installed 2 new belts, # 38528034, and # 38528-035 There is so much slack in belt # 3852034 (brush drive) that it cannot grip the brush. There does not seem to be any adjustment to take up the slack. I've put in new belts twice now & cannot get brush to rotate or tighten the belt to the brush.

I have a Model U57809RM Hoover Cyclonic which started making a very loud noise. Changed both belts on it but the noise persists. It seems to happen when I put the handle in the 'engage to vacuum' mode. The minute I start to lower it the noise begins. Help!
Hello,You could have a broken fan in the motor and need to replace the fan. If the noise is coming from the brush area of the vacuum, you probably have a broken bearing in your brush roller and would need to replace the brush itself. ... Hoover Vacuums

I have a Hoover Slider, Model #S2105, Serial #050500084989, and I need instructions on putting it back together; with parts and assembly of parts. I took it apart because it was making a noise, and I believe one of the belts had come off. However, when I took the screws out of the bottom to check the belts, the whole thing fell apart. Now I can't get back together properly. It will not come on, and I believe it is because the switch that makes it come on when you lower the handle is not posi

Hoover windtunnel u6476-910. Brush does not roll. Flat belt and other belt are good. The other thicker belt (called V belt?) does not have tension with the brush roll. I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I pulled the brush/spinner thing off one side, cleaned everything, popped it back in where it belonged, and tried to make sure the belt was in the proper alignment. However, when I turned the vacuum on, it makes a horrible noise like I'm sucking up rocks. What have I done wrong in putting it back together? It seemed simple...

My Kirby Heritage II vacuum is not picking up dirt up out of the carpet like usual, and I have to keep setting it lower to pick anything up. I finally get it to such a low setting that it starts sucking the carpet up and makes a whirring noise, and starts smelling. Every time this happens, we find the belt has been burned. We are wondering if the brush roll inside with the brushes that pick up dirt are worn out and too short?

Hoover windtunnel Not sure of model number- but brush roller clamps down on carpet being vacuumed and stops spinning regardless of which of the 3 height selections is selected.
