Hoover U4395 Vacuum fan (impeller) broke

\015 The plastic fan (impeller) on my U4395 Custom Convertible broke. I was able to order a new fan, but now I'm having problems taking off the old one. Is the motor pull for the belt right or left hand thread? Also, is there a recommended way to remove the pulley?\015\012\015\012Thanks\015

I've done these impeller replacements on two different Hoover convertibles.

Yes it's a left handed thread on all classic convertibles - loosen it clockwise (reverse thread)

After getting married, my wife upgraded the vacuum to one of those fancy looking ones that claims to produce healthy air has a sleak plastic finish. It was a piece of junk - and the old man was right about the old days and I insisted on another Hoover convertible. It was a small victory but my marriage has prospered and our house has been well cleaned by that powerful 5 amp motor and solid beater bar.

We did however manage to break another impeller in the second antique awhile back (you can only vacuum up change and small tools until one goes in wrong):
My second Hoover's spindle was really corroded and the smooth round pulley nut does not have wrench sides and must have needed like 50-100 ft lbs. not inch lbs. but I was experienced from like 15 years prior (and I obviously needed to save grace regarding old vacuums so failure was not an option) How the heck you say? Once the impeller is broken from your failed attempts, You can more easily get a grip on the impeller chunky broken area at the shaft level with the large 1 foot tongue and groove Channellock pliers (no damage to the spindle this way) then a "14 pipe wrench clockwise on the pulley nut while tightly gripping the Channellocks will take it right off. File or lightly grind or sandpaper the marred pulley nut so it doesn't wear on the belt (there will be little teeth marks on the edge no big deal to smooth) - Put the pulley nut back on with automotive thread anti-seaze. The vacuum may outlive you and the next person only has to figure out the reverse threads and won't have to fight the corroded threads.

VACUUM REPAIR I have a Hoover Savvy upright, windtunnel, bag/bagless vacuum (model U8150-900). The Handle Release Foot Pedal - Part #38434026 broke soon after purchase but I finally found a source to replace this item. I have a Hoover Windtunnel U5472-940. The belt broke so I replaced it. Immediately the next one broke. The belt goes around the brush cylinder and a metal post. I think there is supposed to be something on the metal post to protect the belt but I can't tell from the owner's manual. I also can't find out if this is a part that can be replaced.
