Having problems with your Kenmore 23612 Progressive PowerMate Bagged Canister Vacuum ?

Why would the vacuum have no suction? - Kenmore 23612 Progressive PowerMate Bagged Canister Vacuum

Answers :

If the motor is running it could be a belt a clog or a hole somewhere else in the hose
The screen behind the foam filter clogs easily and needs to be washed and DRIED before reuse. When this screen is clogged, it has a huge impact on suction (or should I say lack of suction)

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead... the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope

I bought a Kenmore canister vacuum, model 116, in April 2007. This morning, the sound of the motor suddenly began to deepen, and I began to lose suction. Normally, if something is clogging the hose, the motor will wind up to a higher pitch, not a lower one. The filters are clean, the bag is empty, and I can't detect anything lodged in the hose. If this were a car's engine, I would say it's "lugging down". Any pointers?

Okay, bear with me. Is it possible you have a suction adjustment, dial somewhere on vac. Check and see and if it does, be sure it's all the way up. Also, try removing hose and run a broom handle fr. one end to the other...BUT be careful not to stretc ... Vacuums
