I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead... the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope

Hi. On some models, one switch controls all of the power. Your issue, which is no working switch is almost certainly a blown triac on the circuit boar ... Vacuums

Clogged vacuum Rather stupidly, my boyfriend 1) were vacuuming without a bag and 2) vacuumed up a big piece of cotton from a sofa cushion. And now it's making a horrible noise and I see it vibrating where the tube connects to the machine. When you look inside there's a white thing sticking out but it looks like it's part of the vacuum. If it's a clog, how do you fix it? I tried unscrewing the tray the bag sits in but it won't budge.

You can start by taking off the bottom plate or top cover, which ever comes off, that is where the inlet starts going in and hopefully the clog is there. Could be in the hose also. Hello, I have a Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum 116.20912006. It won't turn on. On the hose assembly, the end where the hose swivel is, there are 4 metal pins that plug into the canister. One of the pins looks like it broke off. There are only three pins remaining. I assume there should be four pins as there are four holes. Is this the problem and is it fixable? The vacuum is from 2002 so I am not sure a replacement part is even available and at what price. Thank you. Susan susan.eng@

Hi Susan, if the pin has broken off you can do one of two things, first, would be to find a local vacuum repair shop and take it there for them to look at. they may be able to look at the hose and fix it for you pretty cheaply. what ... Kenmore Progressive 20912 Bagged Canister Vacuum

Kenmore Progressive canister model 116.27514700 Problem: Vacuum motor won't turn on. The power head operates, but nothing from the vacuum. Have checked all areas of airflow: hose, bag, motor filter and hepa filter. All are fine. Have checked and rechecked all electrical connections, all seem to be in working order.
