Having problems with your Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive 30912 Vacuum ?

My vacuum cleaner is making a loud squealing sound when I turn it on and the brush is turning. It gets louder while vacuuming the carpet. I tried to remove the bottom cover to see inside but, took out a bunch of screws and couldn't get the cover off.

I have a DC07 and the brush wasn't rotating and I had no suction at the brush but perfect suction through the hose. I noticed a large build up of dog hair around the brush so I took off the cover plate and removed all the hair, cleaned inside the floor/brush housing and cleaned out the hose. I also cleaned the filter and removed the other air access cover and made sure that they were clear. I put everything back and the brush still doesn't turn and there is still no suction through the bottom

I have the Miele S7280...the one without the clog hatch on the back. I took the bag cover off, then continued the remove the screws and cover underneath it to detatch the top from the bottom. Found the clog and cleaned it out. Heres the problem...now the power nozzle light comes on and the vacuum "on" is lite up red, but it will not come on. Checked the filters and the bag. Good day, I took off the cover on a proheat upright, to install the suction diverter flap. Guy at the shop told me I had to do this but I don't think it was really necessary. Anyway, I am having a real job getting the cover back on. The shampoo mix piston seems to be causing the problem seating the two halves correctly.
