Agitator unit on Kenmore Progressive 116.25915503 won't spin. I have cleaned out all hair and string wrapped around it. Belt is good. It seems to spin on one side but stuck on the other. Could string be caught somewhere?

Answers :

Pry the end caps off the brush bar, you will find hair and string wrapped up tight in the end. the bearing may also be shot, you can try and oil it up a bit to keep it spinning.\012\012<!-- from fixya rte -->

I have a Eureka 5902AVZ and the brushroll does not work. when i remove the belt, which is not torn nor worn out, the motor spins perfectly fine. Though when i put the brushroll back into place, it shows that the motor is trying to spin, but with resistance. it seems the brushroll will not spin if locked into place, because there is no attachment on the left side of the brushroll that will allow it to spin freely with the belt. am I missing some parts or is there something else wrong?

Eureka TRUE HEPA Whirlwind Bagless same problem seems...roller just stopped...took everything apart and turned it on just in time to see belt melt...I was able to get the end caps off both sides at first and now can't seem to get the one side. Really love this vacuum! Don't want to have to part with it!

If you are able to remove one end cap, the brush roller shaft can be removed and the other bearing is exposed for examination and removal of the hair that probably is clogging it. After cleaning and reassembly the brush roller should rotate freely. C ... Eureka 2961AVZ Bagless Upright Vacuum

The brush roller stops turning and I can smell the belt burning, then it will catch and start working normal. I looked under the plate to check the belts and they looked okay and no hang ups of string or anything. The only thing that seemed weird was that the smaller belt that actually attaches and turns the roller is a bit loose. The larger belt is tight but looks like its the one that is burning and causing the smell.

Better to replace both belts the smaller one is stretched out thats whyits slipping ,be sure to clean the old rubber off the motor shaft before replacing the belts.it will cause the new belts to run unevevly and go bad before their time ... Roomba Discovery Roomba is fully charged and cleaned with sensor wiped clean. When turned on it it sounds normal and commences to go, but it then acts like it is putting on the breaks, spins, tries to go and manages a short distance and breaks again, just not making any progress because it keeps breaking after a foot or so and turns and tries again. My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush rotating. It does not happen hen I shut the roller brush off. The belt is fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong as there are no clogs, debris, or foreign objects stuck in the brush or in the belt. The noise seems to be the only issue. The vacuum picks up fine. It just doesn't sound right a

I have a Bissell powerforce turbo, and my beater bar is not spinning, i have checked fordebris in the bar itself, but it seems one of the sides is not circle and it is getting caught on its little hole it fits into... so my question is.. Is it supposed to be circle? instead of oval shaped?

The belts wear and break very quickly as tho something is rubbing against it on one side. It seems to be worse when I use the hose.

I just bought a Hoover Power Drive Concept Two Electronic vacuum from the thrift shop. It only needed two belts and seems powerful. I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I pulled the brush/spinner thing off one side, cleaned everything, popped it back in where it belonged, and tried to make sure the belt was in the proper alignment. However, when I turned the vacuum on, it makes a horrible noise like I'm sucking up rocks. What have I done wrong in putting it back together? It seemed simple...
