Having problems with your Kirby G4 Bagged Upright Vacuum ?

Kirby G4 motor is very loud. It has suction but seams to be a lot louder than when we bought it in 1996.

Hi There,

\015\012Most likely it's just the fan that is making the noise rather then the motor. The way the Kirby vacuums are designed, anything hard that's vacuumed up such a coin, or other hard things can break the fan.
\015\012
\015\012In order to check and see if it's your fan, remove the front part of the vacuum that contains the roller brush and belt. If you're not sure how to do this, here's a video that shows you how to change the belt, but will also explain how to get the front bell shaped housing off:
\015\012
\015\012
\015\012Once you have the front cover off, look inside the vacuum directly behind the motor shaft. You will be able to inspect the fan here. Turn the motor shaft which also turns the fan, and see if there's any cracks, or if the fan blade is broken. I think most likely you'll see the fan damaged somehow.

\015\012Here's a video repair that we've put together that explains step by step on how to replace the suction fan on your Kirby:

My Dyson Root 6 made a loud banging sound, and now its motor emits a strong burning smell every time it's switched on. It runs for a second or two, making a lot of noise, and then stops. (Just bought a new battery for it, too - what a drag...) It's off warranty, and Dyson wants almost as much to fix it as a new one would cost. Is my Root 6 e-waste, or is there anything that can be done for it?

Recently my central vac system started making a louder than usual and laboured sound when in uise, enough so that I took note and inspected the canister and motor while running. The motor was trowing off blue sparks and looked like it could 'POP' at any moment. I will not risk using it until I know what the problem is and how to repair it. My assumption is the motor needs to be replaced. The system came with the resale house I bought 3 yrs ago but I do not know the age of the system itself.

Rainbow Vacuum, about 5 yrs old (bought new, no issues prior) - my 6yr old tipped it on it's side while water was in basin. Now when I turn the power on, it makes a very loud sound in the motor and you can feel the vibration on the floor. The suction still works and basin still catches dirt - the noise is just so loud and I'm not sure if I should continue use or how to fix -?

Although a wet/dry vacuum, it cannot tolerate water in the motor. Water will cause the motor to short out, which will cause the motor to act/sound like yours does now, if it continues working at all.\015\012To prevent additional problems, the ... Rainbow E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

I bought the Eureka 4703D model vacuum and my very first time powering it on, it was extremely loud - abnormally loud, and I don't know if it is loud like that because I possibly put it together wrong, or there is something wrong with it or it was previously damaged and I would like to know if this is something I can fix myself or do I have to take it back apart and return it to Walmart where I purchased it from. Miele Cat & Dog vacuum gets VERY hot and is VERY loud. Hose has no restrictions and I have changed the dust compartment (motor) filter and the exhaust filter. It still gets hot when I run it with the top open and all filters removed, so I'm guessing the problem is with the motor. Should I be going into the motor compartment? If so, what am I looking for?

Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.

It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums
