Folks, My wife and I own a three-year-old Hoover U6434-900 self-propelled "Wind Tunnel" upright vacuum cleaner. The problem is that, even on the highest setting (front-end as high as possible), it gets bogged-down in even shallow pile carpet to the point that the brush stops. I've cleaned the machine thoroughly, pulling hair, thread, dental floss and such from the brush (and everywhere else), including unscrewing the brush end caps and pulling out the cat hair mats which formed in there.

Check to see if the V belt sits too deep in the brushroll groove, if it sits too deep you will need to replace the brushroll. the top of the belt should be about flush with the brushroll. also you have to take the screws out of the self propelled uni ... Vacuums

We have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, model Core 7. There is a switch that turns on and off the brush drive. This operates via a cam with a bearing putting pressure on the final drive belt to engage the brush head. My brush head is not turning and with the lever set to engage the drive there is still considerable slack in the final drive belt. There appears to be only a bearing deflecting the belt, should there be a pully or other device mounted on this bearing? There is so much slack a

Yes, there should have been a white plastic sprocket on top of the bearing - in its channel the belt would sit. Unfortunately no parts are available for this unit that can be bought retail - only available by order to dealer repair shops.\012\012\012 ... Hoover Vacuums

Brush Roll belt stops turning durring vacuuming on WindTunnel self-propelled, v belt is a little loose with handle down. Tensioning roll is engaged OK, but fully at the end of its travel. Replaced belts flat and v, but still stops turning even on high carpet setting when vacuuming. Carpet setting and height adjustment appears to be working OK, roll is clean and turns easily when out. Also turns easily until it engages the carpet. Self propel function works just fine.

I replaced the belt on my Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum and the brush roller rubs and makes a very loud noise when turned on. I have gone exactly by the manual instructions and made sure the belt and end caps were on correctly, but the bristles still rub the back and it makes a very loud noise. Without the brush roller in the vacuum, it sounds and runs normal. What could the problem be?

I have a Kirby Heritage 84. Great condition except the part that connects the innerbag is missing. I don't even know what it is called. I can open the vacuum cleaner bottom and see that the part is missing. It should be oval where it connects to the vacuum and then extend into the cloth bag. PLEASE HELP!

The Heritage 84 had two different bag assemblies available. One is a dump-out bag. The dirt simply dumps through the bottom. The other is the bagged style which has a full length zipper to open it. Inside it should contain a "bag fill tube", and a to ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum

Last night as I was vacuuming, I noticed that the belt stop indicator light was on. I pulled out the hair that had gotten tangled around the brush in hopes of solving the problem. It didn't change things. I then unscrewed the entire bottom piece to take out the brush roller. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together. My manual says it is DC07, but it is pink and silver in colour. I have 2 problems, firstly the brush has stopped spinning, but belt appears intact. Secondly there are tiny holes in suction pipe near brush i.e. the little section of suction pipe at base of vacuum cleaner.

Hi there, \015\012The DC07 came out in a few different variations so the colour only indicates that yours has a hepa filter. The first problem can be caused by a few different things\015\0121. the brush roller bearings are worn or siexed. ... Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

A family member recently gave me their Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner (model 35821) and I did not notice that the power cord was missing at first. It is not clear how to access the front spool on a Eureka 'Boss - smartvac' 4870K vacuum cleaner, when replacing the belt. Trying to force the flimsy black plastic lever attached to the shiny silver spool where the front end of the belt appears as if it should go, would cause breakage.

The shiny spool is the mechanism that stops the brushroll (brushroll control). The belt only slips around the brushroll, and the motor spindle. ... Eureka Smartvac 4870 Bagged Upright Vacuum

I accidently ran over a sock while vacuuming underneath my bed and the belt broke (brush does not rotate now). I've always changed the belts in my vacuum cleaners, but the Healthy Home manual states that I need to bring it into a shop so that a professional repairman can change it. I find this ridiculous and now wish that I never bought it. How do I change the belt myself? PS I have already bought a replacement belt.
