Kirby Heritage II Replacing the Motor in the housing HELP!
\015 My husband took the motor out of the vacuum to take it to the repair shop. They said I just need a new lexan fan, which he has seated now, but in the process of trying to replace the motor in the housing, a small metal piece fell out. We are not sure if it was placed inside the housing or fell from the motor assembly. It is about 4 1/2 " long and about 1/4" wide. It has a 90 degree bend on one end that is 1/2". The other end has a slight curve about 1 1/4" from the end and then has a curl on the bottom side. I know this is not much of a description. Could this be a tool that the repairman left in our box or is this some type of mounting or spacing mechanism? HELP! If you can help us out, I can send a picture of the part if that is necessary.\015

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

I have changed these brushes, the motor still rotates but it still gives off sparks and burning smell. Do i have to change the motor as well? Can you help please? Thankyou Martin
Some debris, even sand or dirt, probably got into the motor, causing damage to the armature. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motor. The burning smell from the motor is generally a sure sign of a bad motor. ... Kirby G4 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Recently my central vac system started making a louder than usual and laboured sound when in uise, enough so that I took note and inspected the canister and motor while running. The motor was trowing off blue sparks and looked like it could 'POP' at any moment. I will not risk using it until I know what the problem is and how to repair it. My assumption is the motor needs to be replaced. The system came with the resale house I bought 3 yrs ago but I do not know the age of the system itself.

If I can't replace the fill tube, will tape fix it? If I just taped it; will it hold? Thanks.
Taping usually just causes a mess. The mini-emptor has coarse threads on it that the fill tube screws on to. Occasionally there is a cable tie on the bottom which is not really necessary. If you cut the tube near the bottom, you can get hold of it's ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum

Hi, the motor could be overheating. Most vacuums have a heat sensor that shuts the vac. off if there is a clog. Let it sit, feel if it's hot. If so you may have a blockage of dirt etc. Try to clear it, let it cool and tart it up. I hope this helps, i ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum
