1)First, you turn the square belt lifter on the front of the power nozzle until the red arrows line up (belt off)
2)Remove the power head from the front of the machine. Now turn the belt lifter the other way and line the green arrows up again (belt on).
3)Turn it upside down and release the two clips that hold the metal baseplate on and remove the baseplate.
4)Grab the brushroll and pull it out of the power head. Slide the new belt onto the center of the brushroll. It will hang loose...it doesn't have to stretch around anything yet. MAKE SURE THAT THE BRUSHROLL SPINS FREELY!! If it doesn't, you'll burn all new belts quickly due to the added strain on the belt. New brushrolls are available here...  NEW KIRBY BRUSHROLLS
5)Look at the ends of the brushroll. The brushroll has three height settings...you should see notches AND  NUMBERS on the sides of the brushroll's end caps. ONE notch (also #1) FACE UP on BOTH sides is the first setting and should be used when the roller is new. Three notches is the last setting used before a new roller is needed and should be used if the brushes are short and worn. Put the brushroll back in, making ABSOLUTELY SURE sure that the SAME NUMBER of notches and the same raised number on the edge are FACE UP on BOTH sides. This is important, as the brushroller will be unbalanced if inserted wrong.
6)Replace the baseplate by fitting the front clips into place and then push it down in back and secure it with the two rear swivel clips. Make sure it fits securely down over the bumper on all sides with no suction leakage.
7)Turn the belt lifter to where the RED arrows line up, making sure that the inner "hook" grabs the belt and stretches it up while you are turning it. Once you have the belt stretched up, put the power nozzle back onto the Kirby and lock it in place.
8)NOW...turn the belt lifter back to GREEN. If the little green light on the power nozzle lights up when you turn it on, CONGRATULATIONS!!! The brushroll is spinning!!

Does the epic 3500 have a belt? It seems that when running on the carpet setting, it is very noisy and is not picking up the way it should. When we run it on the floor setting, it sounds better, but the rolloer doesn't go around to fluff the carpet. What is wrong?

Yes, it does. It definitely sounds like a broken belt. And the noise would probably be due to the belt still being in the machine and hitting the motor shaft.\015\012Due to some difficulty in reassembling the powerhead and getting the belt to ... Electrolux Epic 3500 Vacuum

Floor Attachment I took off my floor attachment, but now the belt seems to be off and I can't seem to get it back on right. I can't use the attachment and I don't know why it's so hard to figure this out. They say, just turn it to belt off, but when i turn it it lift's it up and can't line up with the belt off label. Then, when I turn it the other way, it's off. So I've been trying to pull it off so when it lines up with belt off, it's off. But the I turn it the other way and it's still off a

Try this,\015\012\015\012With the floor nozzle off the machine spin the belt lifter around until the red arrows match. If you look at the side that attaches to the vacuum you should be able to see the belt up on the hook. If is not on t ... Kirby Generation 3 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Hi The band snapped the other day on my Vax Swift Turbo upright hoover and i got a new band from a Hoover repair centre. (Im assuming the bloke sold me the correct band). Was tight to go on. And it seemed ok. However, after switching on the band snapped immediately. Kinda burnt as well (at the point it snapped). Any ideas as to what the problem is here? The hoover is roughly 2 years old and used around 3 times per week. thanks Mike

Hoover Wind Tunnel 7500 Brush not Turning. I have replaced the Brush and the belt. The problem does not seem to be either to me. I believe might be a missing part. The place were the belt hooks on is a metal pole which never seems to grip the belt well. In fact it seems loose most of the time and slips on the brush, causing the belt to eventually burn up. Could there be a missing plastic or rubber piece meant to hold the belt taught  on the metal pole?

My filter queen majestic quit working. I opened up the unit to see what was wrong and I did not immediately notice anything wrong. Upon furter examination I noticed one of the traces on the printed circuit card was burnt. I used a soldering iron to "bridge the trace and it appeared to fix the problem for a while. Now it has stopped working again, and when I jumper the trace to run the motor it seems to work. Should I just replace the card? Or is there a more serious problem with too much current

I recommend replacing the card. Soldering involves the risk of further damaging the card, so it would be useless anyway. Why waste valuable time?\015\012There is a possibility of the motor overheating, generally due to a blockage in the airfl ... Filter Queen Majestic Canister Vacuum

Poor suction The actual sweeper seems to work ok, but the hose attachment has some suction but not enough to pick up things I think it should and not enough to make the power brush spin. I've checked everywhere I can for clogs, but I can't see anything. And there doesn't seem to be any way to check to hose itself for clogs. I've cleaned out the container and the filters, but there's still a problem.

Check the inlet down by the brush roll, make sure it is open, if it is then the hose itself must have a clog. If the hose comes off, drop something like a marble in one end and see it it comes out the other end, if it doesn't then you have a clog. ... When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.

Yes, the belt could have been stretched and is now vibrating and hitting other parts and creating a noise if much of the bag got caught under the belt.
