FAN PROBLEM??? good morning! my vacuum smells like burnt rubber (fan perhaps) but I can't find how to get into main part of the vacuum. it's just very rounded with no latches or screws to get inside where the motor, belts and fans would be located. can you help me? thank you

I was replacing the belt on my Eureka Smartvac 4870 and one of the felt gaskets (or part of it) popped out. I thought I put it in correctly, but the first I used it after replacing the belt, the gasket got mangled by the brush. I'm wondering how important it is to get fixed; is it a part I can pick up anywhere and fix myself? Thanks for the help.

I'm no expert but if you mean the felt on the roller, you have to replace the roller (expensive, esp. for such a minor part). So. I found some felt with adhesive in the craft section at Wal-Mart, trimmed it to fit and done deal. Felt reduces friction. ... Eureka Smartvac 4870 Bagged Upright Vacuum

My Dyson DC17 has lost suction on the wand and is not picking up dirt as it should. I have taken the small part at bottom of the machine off to see if there is a blockage--none that I can see. The flexible tube on wand is very tight and won't extend very much. Dyson sent me a new cyclonic part in April but the machine still doesn't seem to be working properly. My serial number is 260-us-d11545. Is there somewhere I can take my Dyson to get it fixed. I'm very frustrated with it. Thank you.

My Hoover vacuum is not vacuuming the carpets or floors. When I release the tube to use the smaller end the suction works perfect. I have Hoover Widepath Bagless 12 Amp Windtunnel vacuum. Yesterday I was vacuuming and smelled smoke and it shut itself off. Today I cleaned out the filters (they weren't bad) made sure nothing was obstructing the hoses or the spinning brush part. It turned on for 1 second, smells like smoke somewhere from the bottom and now won't turn back on so I don't know if anything is spinning or not. What can I do to fix this myself?

The motor just went out on my 2 year old vacuum with light usage (hardwood floors in a very small house.) The Sears repairpeople are estimating ~ $130 to fix (this includes parts & labor). I'm wondering if it's worth investing $130 into something i've spent $350 on only 2 years ago. Shouldn't these machines last longer ? Is there something I could do to get them repair free as it seems the motor must have been faulty to only have lasted 2 years. Thoughts ?
