Took my miele canister vacuum cleaner in for repair because the cord had a break in it creating a short. He said it also needed an inter filter ($12.29) and the carbon brushes were worn out ($21.95). Is that possible? Also wanted to service the motor and put in a new seal ($49.95) Shouldn't that include the inter filter and carbon brushes?
Depending on the age of the vacuum and how much use it gets, the first two are possible. I would question the brushes as they should last for several years.\015\012The servicing is generally for labor only and doesn't include parts. I do reco ... Miele Vacuums

I have a VAX V12 vacuum cleaner which suddenly stopped. The smell indicated Carbon Brush Problems. I contacted a service agent who told me that it was not possible to change the Carbon Brushes brushes on this model and they would need to change the Motor Unit.. To me this sounds very unlikely. Two questions please. Is it possible to change the Carbon Brushes and how do I get the cabinet apart which looks very difficult. I am well qualified electrically to do this job. Regards James Beech

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

Can you please let me know how can i assess the damage? If this model has a switch from 110 to 220V IS there a solution with transfromer or motor to make it work? Thank

I have changed these brushes, the motor still rotates but it still gives off sparks and burning smell. Do i have to change the motor as well? Can you help please? Thankyou Martin
